Coach Bags cat photobomb

Another Friday means another PurseForum Roundup of the week’s conversations over at the Forum. This week, we pop into Chanel and Proenza Schouler and stumble into two live reveal threads. We also gave some thought to frugality, found some attention grabbing animals, and lusted over some shoes. We have been very busy. Read More…

Reese Witherspoon carries a Fendi 2Jours Tote (5)

Here’s Reese Witherspoon shopping at a Whole Foods in LA (where the daytime lighting is strangely perfect), carrying a paper bag of fresh flowers and other goodies in one arm and an orange Fendi 2Jours Tote on the other. I suddenly have a fiendish urge to buy something orange. This Italian leather shopper is available in eight different colorways and can be bought for $2,260 at Nordstrom.

Flight 001 Go Clean Bags

When fashion writers talk about travel, we’re mostly concerned with what you’re going to take and what you’re going to put it in. Our advice ends where your trip begins, and after that, you’re largely on your own. Anyone who’s actually been on vacation, especially to the beach, knows that’s insufficient – packing to get home takes way more skill than packing to leave home.

Bag Deals May 24

Since it’s mid-morning on the day before most of us (at least in America) get a three-day weekend, I’m sure you need a little bit of online shopping fun to distract you. Don’t let me twist your arm or anything, but Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of the summer sale season, which means that sites like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s have taken a ton of fresh markdowns on handbags and beyond, and all of it is in-season stuff that you can wear for months to come. That, plus an impending long weekend, makes today a pretty special Friday. Let’s start it with some bag deals, shall we? Read More…

Jimmy Choo Blare Tote

Anyone who’s gone looking to buy a handbag recently (or anyone who stops by the blog-place we’ve got going here on a regular basis) knows that the influence of Celine cannot be contained: flared-gusset bags have been a thing, and they will continue to be a thing until Phoebe Philo deigns to give the rest of fashion something else to play with.

Selena Gomez carries a white Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily Bag (5)

Here’s Selena Gomez, arriving at Heathrow Airport, carrying a Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily Bag. She’s in jolly olde London towne this week to drum up a little PR for Spring Breakers, and her new single “Come and Get It.” Yes, that’s right, she’s another singing, dancing, acting, ex-Disney starlet. You can pick up a ruby red version of Selena’s top handle bag for $1,695 at Nordstrom.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Handbags

We know you’ve all been waiting with baited breath for the first big sale of the season to launch and signal the start of sale season, and here it is: the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale is on, and in it you’ll find a ton of handbags. In particular, fans of Marc Jacobs, Reed Krakoff, Alexander Wang and Marni will be pleased – the sale includes loads of covetable bags from those brands, plus contemporary stalwarts like Rebecca Minkoff and Kate Spade. As we are wont to do, we’ve sorted through the sale and picked our favorites, which you’ll find after the jump. It won’t offend us if you skip straight to shopping via Nordstrom, though. Read More…

Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Speedy Bag

The last time we mentioned Louis Vuitton’s exclusivity problem, you guys had a lot to say, and much of it was demonstrative of the challenges that Vuitton faces going forward – how does a company whose incredibly recognizable logo bags have become ubiquitous maintain its air of exclusivity for top-tier customers? And if those top-tier customers leave, will customers at the lower tiers go looking for their little slice of luxury elsewhere? Is this a problem that Louis Vuitton has waited too long to fix? Based on the double-digit dip that the company’s value took last year, things could be better at LVMH’s flagship brand. Read More…

The Many Bags of Emma Watson

I have an Emma Watson close-encounter story, and although it’s not a very good one, I’m going to take this opportunity to tell it anyway. Over the winter, on a very snowy day, a friend and I decided to trek to Barneys to shop for some shoes and stave off cabin fever in the bad weather. The place wasn’t nearly as packed as it normally would be on a Saturday, and we took advantage of the opportunity to try on a bunch of ridiculous shoes and amuse ourselves.
