Well, that was fast! While we were busy looking at purses, shoes and bags, an entire week flew by! Welcome to the Mid-March PurseForum Roundup, in which we shall celebrate the first awakenings of spring with a visit to Louis Vuitton, Coach and more. We’re so happy you are joining us! Read More…
After a long and amazing week at South by Southwest, it feels good to finally be back in New York (minus the cold weather, of course). Last Thursday, Amanda and I jetted off Austin to spend a week at SXSW Interactive, attending thought-provoking panels and keynotes, eating tons of delicious food, exploring the city with great bags and making new friends.
Here’s Nicky Hilton, attending an NYC screening of Jim Jarmusch’s new vampire flick Only Lovers Left Alive and carrying a Chanel Boy Brick Clutch. Nicky has an incredibly prolific bag collection, but she seems to be favoring eternally chic black Chanel bags as of late. We saw her out with her sister Paris a few months ago with a very stylish Chanel Chain Boy Bag, and last summer we spotted her in LA with a Chanel Quilted Chain Strap Bowler Bag.
On TalkShoes this week, we styled the covetable Jil Sander Neon Sandals for our Outfit of the Week, and on the other end of the spectrum, these Manolo Blahnik Mules are the perfect mule for the ultra lavish! In celeb shoe news, we saw Selma Blair wearing the first pair of Birkenstocks we’ve seen out and about this season. Also, we saved the best news for last, because Sole Society is celebrating its birthday with markdowns up to 50% off!
As we inch ever closer to spring (one week left!), our weekly round of bag deals gets brighter and brighter, as warm-weather shades flood sites and, eventually, sale sections. This week, we’ve put together a roundup of beautiful bags that you can wear both now and well into spring and summer, all for less than their original retail price. Read More…
For all the writing I do about style, color and accessorizing, I’m not particularly good at adding anything to my personal wardrobe but black, grey and silver. One notable exception to that rule, though, is lipstick; I rarely buy any lip color that wouldn’t be accurately described as “aggressive,” and I’m a big advocate for pushing outside of one’s makeup comfort zone.
Here’s a gal we don’t see on this blog nearly often enough: Anne Hathaway! Here’s Anne leaving the restaurant Cheebo in LA with a friend. Her petite yellow bag is Balenciaga Papier A4 Mini Tote. (Could you recognize the brand’s trademark “bag face” in this teensy size?) You can get Anne’s exact bag in “Citron Yellow” for $1,195 at Balenciaga.
If you’re a fan of the Coach Borough Bag, spring is going to be super exciting for you. Coach’s lookbook showed up in our inbox last week, and not only is it full of striped and patchwork takes on the bag, but the Borough now comes in sizes ranging from weekender to micro-mini. The bag’s handles also get translated to a slightly simpler bag, the Coach Town Tote, for those who found the Borough’s many compartments a bit daunting.
If you love the thrill of the hunt, you’re probably already familiar with YOOX, which houses a huge selection of designer merchandise at discount prices. As of right now, a lot of those discounts just got even better – the YOOX Clearance Sale is on, which means prices up to 85% off. The site sells discounted pieces from brands like Prada and Valentino, which means that this sale is really worth a look.
Of all the celebrities we’ve profiled in our Many Bags series, Emmy Rossum might have more relatable personal style than any of them. The way that Emmy dresses is the way that a lot of women want to dress – feminine, pulled together but not too precious. Like a grown woman, but not in a way that ages her. If she weren’t an actress, it’s not hard to imagine her translating her wardrobe to any variety of real-world pursuits, and she’d always be the woman in the office with the lipstick you envied.
