Happy Blue Moon Friday, Roundup readers! We have reached the end of July, and for many of us that means summer is winding down. We know it is a hot one for most of you, and we thought we would finish off this month with some cool blue reveals from the PurseForum‘s busiest designer subforums.

Brutus Chanel Bag

If you follow @purseblog on Instagram, you may have already seen the newest addition to the PurseBlog family. Vlad and I adopted Brutus, our three-month-old German Shepherd/Boxer/Golden Retriever (we think) mix, from Jamie’s Rescue in Miami Beach last Sunday.

Summer is traditionally kind of a slow news period for the fashion industry, but this summer has been anything but boring. There’s been a lot going on, from Louis Vuitton discontinuing a popular line to Hermès offering boxes with unknown contents to its online customers.

Bally-Sommet-Fold-Small-Satchel

I’m always thrilled when a brand has stepped up its handbag game, and that’s why I’ve been keeping an eye on Bally since I saw the brand’s Fall 2015 lookbook months ago. The Swiss leather goods company has been around since 1851, and the addition of Pablo Coppola as design director in 2014 has made the line’s bags feel incredibly fresh.

Jane-Birkin-Hermes-Crocodile-Birkins

Hermès‘ marquee handbag design has been named after French actress Jane Birkin since its creation in 1984, but as of this week, Birkin would like that to change for at least some of the iconic Birkin Bags. The actress is unhappy with Hermès’ slaughter practices for crocodiles after being alerted by PETA, according to Agence France-Presse.

A certain iconic handbag has become something of a hot topic this week (more on that later this morning), but earlier this week, we were all were blithely unaware of the coming storm. Celebrities stepped out with both croc bags and Birkins, as well as gorgeous bags from brands like Chloé, Givenchy and up-and-coming bag brand Dannijo.

It seems like every season, more and more exotics are available, many of them at the extreme end of the price continuum. For Fall 2015, two of our favorite bags are going to be available in very similar shades of blue alligator: the Givenchy Antigona Bag and Fendi Petite 3Jours Tote.

Manolo-Blahnik-Handbags-14

Manolo Blahnik has always been a man who does things at his own pace. While almost all designers hopped on the platform bandwagon in the mid-2000s, Blahnik was steadfast, sticking with the single-sole shoes he’s made for decades. Now that the shoe trend pendulum has firmly swung in his direction, the designer has set his sights on a bag line for the first time.

The Many Bags of Sofia Vergara (36)

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Wait, didn’t PurseBlog already do a deep dive into Sofia Vergara‘s handbag wardrobe,” you’re not wrong. We did just that about two years ago, but because of a software glitch, it was gone forever. Today, though, we’ve pieced it back together, plus all the beautiful bags that Vergara has worn since.
