Well, that was fast! Another week into the year. This week, we visit the Playground for books, music, and travel, among other Playground destinations. We also have some pretty spring bags to share, and we peek inside makeup drawers in the Beauty Bar. All this and more after the jump, so come on in!

Angela Simmons, daughter of Rev Run from Run DMC, was recently spotted carrying a hot red Hermes Constance Bag on her way in to the nail salon in LA. We saw Angela with this same bag at New York Fashion Week earlier this year – it’s always nice to see celebs getting some mileage out of their most covetable high-end bags.

We’re one week closer to the arrival of summer and mere days away from the three-day weekend that unofficially begins the beach season, and it seems like it was just yesterday that we were all complaining about the cold and its refusal to leave. (Ok, it sort of was yesterday – it got downright chilly in New York at the beginning of the week.) In the next few months you will be seeing a lot more shoe love from our team; we continue to share our footwear obsessions at TalkShoes, because what handbag lover doesn’t love shoes as well? (And vice versa, of course.) One of my favorite shoe brands is Salvatore Ferragamo – the brand’s shoes are legitimately comfortable, which can be a tough feat to accomplish when it comes to women’s shoes.

Here’s Mindy Kaling, doing some serious shopping in NYC with her Chanel Classic Flap Bag. I’ve spotted Mindy with a few different Chanel bags on The Mindy Project this season, including this very bag and a cute little yellow Chanel Mini Flap. I suppose this one is from her personal stash – or she just “borrowed it” from the set, Lindsay Lohan-style.

It was only a matter of time. At first, the Celine Trio Bag flew under the radar – with its small proportion and ultra-minimal look, the bag wasn’t the kind of blockbuster that the Luggage Tote and Trapeze were, but it also wasn’t meant to be. Instead, the Trio is a little bag for in-the-know fashion hounds to signal to each other that they are, in fact, in-the-know.

Just when you thought that the one-of-a-kind, graffiti-clad Hermes Kelly Bag was the pièce de résistance of the Moda Operandi bunk boutique, the retailer has added a late contender to the game: this (also one-of-a-kind, also graffiti-clad) Hermes Birkin Bag, customized just for Moda by artist Travis W. You should know up front that Carey Mulligan looks slightly terrified in several of these photos; the paparazzi attention that comes with being a world-famous actress doesn’t agree with her, and she seems to avoid it.
