Lockheart

I was recently introduced to Lockheart by many loyal fans on the Purse Forum. After we covered Lockheart, it was obvious that the love for that brand was huge. Without seeing one of their bags, I was left wondering what the design was like in person, what the leather felt like, and if this brand was as big as the others said. I can now assure you that Lockheart bags are stunning. Read on and how to win a Lockheart bag after the jump...

Valentino Rosier Tote

Sweet heavens, I don’t know what has come over me… I actually love this bag! I am not usually one for an over the top frilly bag. I know a lot of you would disagree with me, but hey, that’s just the way I am. However, today, if I didn’t have some sort of self restraint I actually might go out and buy this bag. As of late, Valentino has been adorning many of its bag with rose-like features. While some of these bags are a little over the top for me, I am rather happy with this one.

Valentino Rosier Tote

The Valentino Rosier Tote is a lovely way to express your feminine side. Earlier this year, we covered the Valentino Floral Applique Satchel which reminds me quite a bit of this bag, except for the color. This particular tote is adorned with gorgeous silk taffeta roses. The patent leather trim is actually a perfect contrast against the silk roses. While we are in the midst of the Summer months, I can see this bag getting plenty of use. Whether you carry it to a park, to dinner, even to a BBQ, this bag would be a perfect accent to any outfit. Plus, since the color scheme is on the darker side, you can actually try and pull this look off during the Fall and perhaps even the Winter! Buy through Saks for $1950.

The Art of Origami Inspired Handbags

Origami HandbagsThe art of Japanese paper folding takes on a new dimension as a fine detail on origami inspired handbags.

Leather is pushed to the limit as it is folded, stitched and glued into intricate folds. I am fascinated with this trend as I continue to discover more and more handbags with various levels of origami detailing. Above are some of the standout origami handbags spotted recently. Some with more obvious origami details than others.

On the more subtle end of the spectrum I came across the delicate cut and folded corners of the Ferragamo single frame satchel and Nancy Gonzalez tote. The tiny folded and stitched corners add a new dimension and interest upon the already texture laden skins. I love the various tones of cocoa leather/skin. These little cut out shapes and patterns will only continue to look better with age.

Emilio Pucci Denim Shoulder Bag

There is an interesting concept going on here. I am going to start off by saying that I am a jean kind of girl. I love every single pair of jeans I own and I am always looking for more. Think about it, there are so many different styles of jeans out there that you can look fancy or relaxed in the same pair of jeans just by switching up your top, shoes, or handbag. With all of this being said, am I a jean handbag kind of girl… not so sure.

Emilio Pucci Denim Shoulder Bag

The Emilio Pucci Denim Shoulder Bag is just that, a denim shoulder bag. I am happy to see Emilio Pucci venture away from the traditional swoosh of colors on handbags, but I am wondering if this was the right way to go. I do love the chain shoulder strap, it is not only unique but also something that will sure to be a conversation starter. Lambskin leather lining keeps with the sort of rugged theme this relaxed denim handbag demonstrates. While there are individual aspects of the bag that I like, as a whole, I don’t think this one is for me. But do share, do you think denim bags are a hit or a miss. Pre-order through Saks for $1295.

Gucci New Jackie Guccissima Shoulder Bag

July 2nd, 2009 / Posted in Gucci Handbags, Hobos by Amanda Mull.

Gucci New Jackie Guccissima Shoulder BagLogo bags are kind of five minutes ago, right? They’ve been kind of five minutes ago for a couple of years now. But despite the fact that I’ve never been a big fan of bags with branding all over them, I’ve always had a soft spot for Gucci. I like the pattern that their traditional logo fabric creates, and I like how it looks when it’s embossed into their Guccissima leather. I think it works because even if it didn’t serve as a logo, it would still be a fairly simple and attractive pattern.

And that’s why I like the Gucci New Jackie Guccissima Shoulder Bag. Last season when the New Jackie came out, I wrote about how much I like the functional and comfortable shape of the bag, and that hasn’t changed a bit. When you combine super soft, matte leather with the Guccissima embossed logo, it provides great texture without having to mess with the bag’s structure or premise. The color of this bag seals the deal for me - grey is an enormous, important color for Fall 2009, and this grey is a perfect, blue-undertoned, medium grey that will go with almost anything in the average woman’s wardrobe. It’s mighty expensive for regular leather, thought, which is a major deterrent for me adding it to my wardrobe. Buy through Saks for $3250.

Hit the Roadie

Rebecca Minkoff Roadie

The Rebecca Minkoff Rodie is a favorite here! I played around with the Roadie and fell in love. I could imagine slinging her over my shoulder for a long road trip, traveling, or just going out and about. It is easy to wear, the perfect size, and has the perfect zing with the studs. There is an easy access exterior zip pocket and interior zip, slip, and card pockets. Wear it casually across your body or sling it over your shoulder. Measurements are 13″W x 9″H x 5″D; 18″. Buy the Roadie via Nordstrom for $575.

Prada vs Chloe: You pick!

Prada vs Chloe

Prada versus Chloe. Which of these two bags would you choose? Vlad and I need to make a decision for a gift for a friend of ours, Pam from ThatPamChick. Fairly new into the world of luxury handbags, Pam wants to find a bag she can use everyday. We narrowed it down to two and now it is time for you all to tell us what you think!

Prada: This Prada bag is an instant classic. A simple hobo shape with buttery calfskin leather and slight pleating detail, this is truly a bag that will last for seasons. Prada does calfskin like no other, so worst case Pam can use this as a pillow in a time of need. There is an 8″ shoulder drop and dimensions are 13½”W X 11″H X 6″D. $1550 via Saks.

Chloe: I adore this Chloe bag. It mixes a bit of a work feel with a totally timeless touch. This is the Chloe Victoria Tote which also is sporting beautiful Italian leather with a metallic bow hardware. There are double handles and the dimensions are 16½”W X 12″H X 3″D. $1295 via Saks.

Which bag do you like better: Prada or Chloe?

Miu Miu Studded Leather Clutch

Miu Miu Studded Leather Clutch

I love that studs will be seen on many handbags for fall and winter. This is a trend that when done right gives that perfect touch, a bit of a rocker edge. I have been attempting to figure out my studded bag purchase for fall, not even sure where I am leaning right now. But for those of you that are not feeling a large studded bag, a studded clutch will bring the punch. Silver and gold stud embellishments adorn the Miu Miu Studded Leather Clutch. One of my pet peeves is when a designer only puts studs on one side of a clutch, leaving the backside bear and lonely. This clutch does not leave you stud-less on either side. It is simple yet fun and has an internal pocket. I am digging it! Buy through Net A Porter for $750.

Devi Kroell Degrade Wide Hobo

Well, isn’t this just the ray of sunshine I’ve been looking for! Here in South Florida, we are in the midst of our rainy season. While I have become accustom to afternoon storms, the past week has been full of doom and gloom. Rain in the morning, thunder in the afternoon and a nice combination of the two in the evening. So, I’ve definitely been on the hunt for a handbag to brighten my day.

Devi Kroell Degrade Wide Hobo

The Devi Kroell Degrade Wide Hobo uses bright colors in all the right ways! Python leather adorns this wide hobo (11″ x 17″ x 6″) perfectly. For me, exotic skins almost always look good on clutches or small handbags, but the same skin on larger bags can sometimes look a bit sloppy. If the sunflower inspired python wasn’t enough, open the bag and you’ll see a silk lined interior. Sure, I might worry that my keys or perhaps a pen (I never leave home without a pen and lip gloss in my bag) could snag the silk, but this is a risk I’d be willing to take. This bag is a complete hit, I love it! Buy through Barney’s for $3490.
