That Lancel bag is lovely and I used to be a huge Lancel fan, so I’m really sad they offshored their production to China. They’re still designed in France and priced as if they’re made in France, but sadly, that’s where the French connection ends.
Actually, I have to retract that statement and am happy to do so! The Charlie bag is made in Italy using French-tanned buffalo leather. I was so disappointed when I bought my Premier Flirt bag a few years ago and found a tiny tag inside (black type on a black tag, how sneaky is that??) saying it was made in China. I wrote to Lancel to complain — at 800 euros, I expected it to be made by French artisans paid a living wage. I’m glad to see Lancel is once again recognizing the value of European craftsmanship. http://www.lancel.com/en/collections/charlie-collection It’s a gorgeous bag and I guess I can put Lancel back on my “buy” list!
