Make a Statement This Fall With Valentino’s New VSLING Bag

Printed perfection, we're loving Valentino's newest little lady

A few seasons ago Valentino made an accessory move that no one expected: the brand presented a rockstud free fashion show. The bags showcased a new direction for the handbag giant, and though the iconic Rockstuds have since returned to the runway, the brand has also put a new focus on its logo bags. Last spring the VRING bag (a smooth, slouchy shoulder bag) was introduced, and now for fall 2019, the latest iteration of the brand’s logo is prominently featured on a new line of bags. Introducing: the Valentino VSLING Bag.

The VSLING bag is more structured than the VRING bag, with clean, delicate lines and a boxy shape. It’s said to be inspired by the geometric shapes of the ’70s—principals on which made Maison Valentino great, a press release for the bag states. The bag features the new VLOGO, however it’s done this time in a minimalist way, featuring monochromatic tones that match the bag’s leather. The VSLING Bag is made of beautiful, smooth napa leather. At its core, Valentino is known for beautiful designs that are also incredibly well crafted, and this design is no different. It’s stunning in both its simplistic design as well as its craftsmanship. The attention to detail in Valentino’s bags is almost unmatched, and the VSLING bag showcases the Maison’s iconic reputation.

While we love the artsy, edgy chic lip print, the VSLING bag also comes in an array of monochromatic tones. From neutrals like the white below, to bright pinks and reds there is an array of options to pick from. The VSLING bag has a magnetic button closure, with an innovative VLOGO mechanism that opens and closes. A dainty, slim gold chain not only adds a feminine touch to the bag, but it also adjusts the length of the shoulder strap, allowing the bag to be worn short or long. The interior of this bag is lined in leather (a huge plus!) and there are two internal compartments separated by a zippered pocket. The overall dimensions are 7″ L x 8.5″ W x 4″ D. Purchase the printed version for $3,675 via Barneys or shop more varieties of the VSLING bag via Net-a-Porter.

The ugliest bag…

I hate the new V. It looks like that TJ Maxx Valentino brand I see sometimes, the mario valentino or something.

I actually kind of like this bag. The shape is classic. I think the lips are fun and the logo on the white doesn’t bother me since it is also white. Still, while I’d use it if it showed up in my closet, I’d never pay 4 grand for it. For that kind of money, I want a bag that will either stand the test of time or have a high resale value. This bag hits neither of those criteria.

I had the chance to go shopping at the Valentino store last week. Honestly when you see those bags with the Vring you find yourself saying that’s a lot of money. I left with their classic rockstud mini hobo at a fraction of the cost of this bag. But I do agree with you if it landed in my closet I would use it. 🙂

I really enjoyed your critique of “while I’d use it if it showed up in my closet, I’d never pay 4 grand for it” I feel this way very, very often these days, making the decision to purchase anything almost painstaking! I haven’t purchased a new designer bag in over a year and while I have a laundry list of bags I like, I struggle with actually making the buy.

Lip one disgusting

I like the lips bag. It’s very cool.

Just not $3700 cool.

The bag looks classic, but the hardware is not flattering. Also, while the “lips” are cute my wardrobe choices would be too limited to be able to carry it. Lastly, the price is far too expensive. For these reasons it’s a “no” for me.

BTW, Kaitlin how in the world, besides the price, are you able to minimize your handbag shopping? Seriously. ?

Shape is fine, design is over. Prada did lips. Over it. A fresh motif would definitely spark more of an interest. Agreed- Yazj42- fully a tj max valentino.

They’re trying so hard. In theory, it should work. They followed the same “boxy flap with initial logo” formula that’s been done successfully so many times before (Hermes Constance, Celine Box, for example). They found massive success with the Rockstud, but I’m not sure about this style. Something about it feels…off.
