The summer of 2025 will end with a handful of defining moments and trends, one of which was the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, which took place last weekend in Venice, Italy. Every news outlet on every platform, from celebrity-focused to news-focused, was invested in the summer nuptials.
While I follow celebrity news and gossip, I have actively made it a goal not to get overly invested in or have many opinions on people I do not know. No matter what I read about them, I don’t know them, so judging them from my room and via my keyboard seems silly. However, I haven’t perfected this goal; I still have plenty of opinions, yet we will focus on the bags for this coverage’s sake.
The multi-day wedding weekend meant friends (many big-name celebrities) flew into the tiny town of Venice, Italy, for the wedding. And you know, with the amount of coverage this event was bound to receive, the attendees planned their outfits months in advance.
A Venetian Wedding That Took Over the Internet
The Bezos-Sánchez wedding wasn’t just a celebration but also a cultural moment. With Venice as the backdrop, a city known for its gilded palazzos, winding canals, and cinematic light, the wedding took over the city.
Not all Venetians were happy about their wedding extravaganza, and many protested. Bezos and Sánchez tried to calm this by not accepting gifts and taking donations for three Venetian organizations. One million euros was given to CORILA, UNESCO’s local office, and Venice International University, with the guests asked to give to these organizations as well.
I guess the couple didn’t need an Amazon wishlist.
That also means the bag game was strong, from Lauren Sánchez and her custom Mrs. Bezos clutch to her other exotic Hermès bags she was spotted carrying. In a wedding weekend that was all about opulence and glamor, the bags delivered just as much star power as the guest list.
Lauren Sánchez’s Wedding Weekend Bags: Hermès and Custom Touches
The new Mrs. Bezos’s bags were as extravagant as the wedding itself. Her different outfits for each event garnered much attention and conversation, and I kept returning for a better look at her bags.
We spotted a couple of exotic Hermès bags, which felt very expected, and a custom Judith Leiber clutch with her new last name.

Celebrity Guests Brought Out Their Best Designer Bags
The guest list was filled with A-listers, from celebrities to designers to other entrepreneurs and moguls, so the bag game as a whole was robust. We got glimpses of arrivals and departures, which is much of what you’ll see, along with guests leaving the hotel and arriving at wedding events.
Notable guests included the Kardashian-Jenner family, Usher, Sydney Sweeney, Tom Brady, and Oprah. I also spotted a fellow bag lover and one of the other OG bag bloggers, Tina Chen Craig of BagSnob and founder of U Beauty!

Honestly, the pearl-clutching over a display of exquisite craftsmanship and artistry is rather amusing. Lauren Sanchez’s wedding was a celebration of success, taste, and yes, luxury. These bags aren’t just accessories; they’re heritage pieces, investments, and testaments to the skill of master artisans. If you can’t appreciate that, perhaps you’re simply not the intended audience. There’s nothing gauche about recognizing beauty and value: only in being threatened by it. Cheers to the happy couple and their impeccable style.
(P.S. If Hermès offended you, I’d suggest redirecting that energy toward something more productive—like acquiring one.)
Is that you Lauren?
Not too sure about celebration of ‘taste’, definitely luxury though 🙂
I didn’t think PB would stoop to the levcl of posting bags from this tone deaf wedding extravaganza. It’s disappointing.
And we didn’t think you would stoop the level of posting a snotty comment but here you are. How disappointing.
I’m responding to your comment, but my response is meant for all of the comments on this thread. I care a great deal about the coverage we offer and all of your opinions. Our site is dedicated to designer bags, and we’ve covered celebrity bags since the beginning of the site’s inception. I find that bags have a role in cultural moments, and I like to cover that.
In the article, I touched on the protests about Jeff Bezos’s and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding. Covering the bags people carried to this event was by no means a way to gloss over the issues—it was simply coverage of designer bags, which we do daily.
I knew that with all eyes on the events of that weekend, we would see some good bags, and that was my sole intention in covering them.
I expected comments from people who did not like this wedding or the coverage we offered. (I noted that I have my own opinions on it as well, but I did not want to delve further into it and planned to keep it more of a bag roundup.) That said, I understand all your perspectives that this specific celebrity moment brought forth broader issues.
I always appreciate every bit of feedback we get from our readers, and while I intended to share bags, I can understand your perspective on what this coverage meant.
Well said Megs! Also I have noticed you guys always have to be defensive or defend any luxury bag opinion / coverage on a luxury bag website which is ridiculous. There are similar different forums devoted to different interests (cars, watches, golf, travel) , most are expensive and there is no point hating on them in that forum – you can simply choose not to see this content. This is like a F1 forum defending that the next Ferrari coverage- with people commenting affordable public transport/cars should be discussed in that forum.
I understand with the economy and where world is at the moment – luxury is quite different in terms of affordability and what is means as social commentary than it was 5-6 years ( my own lifestyle changes reflect that ) but there is no need need for audience to hate on your coverage. Personally I appreciate the bit of lightness you bring to my day with your content as a true bag lover who appreciates the finer stuff.
You go Megs & Vlad!
Beautifully said!
❤️❤️ 👜
So for the bag argument of it all- did we see good bags? Because, What even is a good bag anymore? Yes, wealthy people can get any Hermes bag, and Hermes bags are stunning and we all love them.
But is it worth posting these people just to get another picture of a wealthy person with an Hermes bag? If it gets clicks and the site survives another day I guess.
I am sure it is very hard to continue running this blog. We all know, PB used to be great, because the bags, and shopping for bags, was great. But now it’s insane prices and terrible quantity, with, zero customer service. Two billionaire men own most of the brands, and all that is left is expensive fast fashion.
Today’s bags come and go so fast, designers leave in a few seasons, and any bags they do release, are most likely just weird re-releases of great bags of the past.
I get why you need to post this, because what else do you have to post? An ad telling people that some PR bag is an “it” bag because other people have been paid to post about it? And it costs $4000 and it’s not even made of leather and it will be out in a season? I can’t believe I even commented on this, becuase, this now is getting more attention than a 2020 Chanel price increase. But, I get it, because, not even your price increase articles get that many comments any more, because we’re so tired of it all.
As a bag lover and collector, it does make me sad, and people like the man of whose wedding you are highlighting, is partly responsible for these changes. And to clear, I am only talking about the wealth inequality, the retail landscape, and the effects it has had on fashion. Everything else about what is happening to the world, I know has no business being spoken about here.
Why are you here then??
Very true, i hope the Kartrashians pay you money for covering them because no other reason you would cover them – no respectable person wants to emulate Bezos or Kartrashian 💩
I want to say, tacky is tacky and most of those people were tacky but no need to politicize it. Most of the commenters on this thread are just very poor losers. Stupid!
Well said Megs! We appreciate you!
Amen. At best, this whole situation shows that money doesn’t equal taste. At its worse, we have a man, that suppressed free speech during the most consequential election of our time, and has profited off the exploitation of millions, and our planet. He has every right to put his money where ever he wants, and support whatever candidate he wants. But don’t normalize this to sell ad space for a shitty Nordstrom sale. If this billionaire truly believes in his candidate, and in America, then every newspaper should be able to write political editorials. And purposely suppressing voices that favor other candidates, means this man is in favor of a dictatorship. We all need to support in the basic fundamental principles of this country, and what a democracy means. But most Americans read at a 6th grade level, so the most the can come up with is worship of red or blue. No one’s “team” is going to win here, and Purse Blog should remove this immediately. What bag did Eva Braun carry to the first rallies in Nuremberg? How about when she toured the first camps? Readers need to know.
Well said!
Wow! Excellent response and communication of your perspective, Ellen. Thank you for your post.
this. ALL OF THIS. It was so much ugh and tackiness, it’s hard to appreciate the bags.
What’s tacky is that your bitter jealousy is showing in your comment. Calling something tacky because you simply can’t afford it, dosen’t make it magically undesirable. It just makes you a sad plebian who screams out in “poor.”
I didn’t refer to the wedding (and the happy couple) as “tacky” because “…bitter jealousy…” or because my wallet can’t handle throwing a hideous wedding.
I referred to it as tacky because IT WAS. Nicely made bags and accessories didn’t fix that.
Hope that clears things up for you, beloved. Have the day you deserve.
An article about bags at a wedding basically equals an endorsement of Hitler? Good grief, go touch some grass.
Despite all the moaning about how tone-deaf and gross this wedding was, majority of complainers still use Amazon on a daily basis. Those brown boxes showing up at your doorstep are mighty convenient, after all.
Don’t fool yourself, if you were among the richest people in the world, you’d do the same extravagant sh*t they do.
NOT EVERYONE. Jeff’s ex-wife is just as rich…and she doesn’t do that extravagant sh!t. Heck, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc., they’re not even close.
Jeff went so far to do the most ugly, diabolical, vindictive behavior to curry favor, but we aren’t surprised. This is the same man who owns warehouses where a person can collapse and DIE, and their co-workers are required to carry on as usual – just ignore the covered body, keep carrying on.
Some of us who love this website just wished NOBODY on here would’ve covered that tacky, tone-deaf eyesore of a wedding.
THIS!!!
Do you think that the billionaire class is slumming it with the common folk peasants? They may not be as obnoxiously ostentatious and desperate for attention as Bezos, but you won’t see them rubbing elbows in coach on JetBlue.
My point stands. If you had millions to throw around on an experience, you would. Perhaps not in the context of a public circus, but you’d still leave your mark without much regard to the impact. ‘Cuz you wouldn’t have reached the billionaire sphere by being conscious of your impact on other people, the environment, or society as a whole. Bezos is a POS, but a successful one.
This article doesn’t paint Bezos in any favorable light, nor does it endorse his political views. Criticizing the publication for taking an angle on the bags carried like it’s some sort of crime against humanity is just silly. PB covers this wedding as it’s part of the greater Zeitgeist, whether the audience agrees with it or not.
It’s not even about the “favorable light” or “endorse” part – you still don’t seem to get it.
Your argument is “well it’s the bags” – it’s like listening to Kanye and R Kelly and saying “…they make good music…” or praising the cut of the suits Hugo Boss made for the Third Reich.
Shunning is a thing. In these times, we don’t have much power, the likes of Bezos have seen to that. Least we can do is shun people who behave cruelly – even if they carry nice bags.
A. I happened to be in Venice, and Europe this time as most people we know travel to Europe with their families this time of year and I can promise you, I would NEVER do this. Most people I know, no matter how much money they have would never do this. There is a specific reason the choose Venice and it is becuase it is a city that ever would be seen, and it would be a spectacle. Most people with money and class, prefer to keep things private.
Touch grass? Sure, I also touch sand, mountains, cobblestones, roads, all sorts of ground.
B. I do not have an Amazon membership, nor do I need one. What would one buy on Amazon.com that they can’t get anywhere else? I am however, trying my best to shop less Whole foods as it is the same company… but what is this basic persons obsession that Amazon is some necessary thing in life?
They only way I could see it benefit someone is if they had mobility issues and needed items delivered to their home, otherwise… why?
B. As I said, People can spend their money however they like and vote how they like. But Mr. Bezos’s silencing of editorial staff of the news paper he purchased, in order to censor the free press, and then blocking them from posting editorials on the election (when he could have let them publish their story and was free to write his own opinion in response, hindered a healthy political debate, that is against the basic principles of our democracy, and is that is a clear example of supporting a dictatorship, and we have seen this in the past in our world, all that was missing was the handbag analysis.
True, the comparison pales. Amazon’s damage of the planet’s environment and contribution to global warming will take the lives of many times over Hitler’s count.
How disrespectful you are.
I don’t think OnVacation is being disrespectful at all. Just honest and realistic about the situation.
I agree with you 100%. People are such hypocrites. Wonder what others that complain about these events do to support others? Is it only the wealthy’s job to support those who sit with their hands out? The article is about handbags! It’s crazy how the liberals turn every moment into their platform. No one is interested in your opinion unless it’s relevant to the article. Which it’s not!
Wow, this is a stupid and disingenuous response. No one ask the wealthy to support anyone. What everyone wants is for them to properly pay their tax, stop exploiting people for work, stop lobbying to further their agenda, specially in this dividing times.
And then here they are, flaunting their tacky accessories, as if they earn it fair and square? You are part of America’s problem!
Your first mistake is to assume that people in need “sit with their hands out.” The people I serve at our food pantry work hard, often two jobs. Poverty doesn’t equal laziness in the United States.
Your second mistake is to assume that people who find this wedding problematic (to use a soft term) are “liberals.” I consider myself very conservative on most topics, and this is exactly why I find this event to be the perfect example of the worst our society can offer.
I believe that the people who sit with their hands out are not the people who go to your food pantry. I did over-simplify with my comment. I’m referring to those who sit with their hand out waiting for whatever they can get that our government had been dishing out for free. They are upset that is stopping. While I believe this wedding was more than necessary. It’s their money. And we really have no say. They can do as they please no matter what anyone else thinks. Once again, this is about bags. Not a social opinion forum.
I will simply note that you persist with “welfare queen” tropes in your comments… in 2025.
…’twas just a matter of time til the whole conversation turned to insults and slurs. SMDH.
I believe my statement about handouts is factual. You can spin it however you choose. Lots of people in this Country are upset because all the free things they have received now have to some accountability. Once again…it’s supposed to be about the bags.
What handouts are you talking about? Who are all these people who are supposedly upset? Where are your facts? Do you think Medicare, Medicaid, and social security are “handouts”? You sound like a grandma watching Fox on loop.
Sadly, you can’t seem to think beyond your sad little red hat.
I was so happy they didn’t cover this trash but alas it was fleeting joy…..
SAME. Over the years, the forums and this blog have had footage that’s been less than…but we love Meg and Vlad, and we DO want to support this endeavor.
Covering the “…ugh, it’s them again…” wedding? SMDH.
We don’t always get it right or cover events/people everyone likes, but I genuinely appreciate you being here and sharing!
Another thing to remember is that we pay for images on the site, so any celebrity coverage is paid for with image licensing rights, so we are often faced with what is available and being covered by the media. But I hear you all, loud and clear!!
Appreciate you and Vlad, Megs!
I’ve enjoyed PB for years and for the life of me cannot understand the vitriol in some of these comments! C’mon people, do better! Sometimes it feels like Megs & Vlad can’t win—if they DO post something we don’t all agree with, they hear about it, if they didn’t cover an event, they’d hear about it…This is not a paid subscription—you are getting the benefit of the PB Staff’s work for free!! And we’re talking about BAGS!! Relax, this is supposed to be FUN!
I bet Meg and Vlad love it. More clicks = more money. 🙂
The same people who want you to recycle egg cartons fly hundreds of private jets to this tasteless debauchery while the world is burning.
As a minority who is very disturbed with the current state of this country, I would not expect or even wish for a site dedicated to luxury handbags to do anything more than just that- showcase luxury goods. It’s kind of a no-brainer that they would cover one of the most expensive weddings of our time. If THIS post is problematic, then we’d have to say that the entire site is given the level of poverty and struggle in America. I have EXTREMELY strong opinions about this wedding, just like many have posted. But again, seems pretty ridiculous to criticize a site dedicated to frivolity and luxury on posting about… frivolity and luxury… **I’ve been here since the days of Amanda Mull- long before I actually had the money to buy any of the bags on the site.
Also- I didn’t READ the post. I barely READ any of them anymore- mostly just here for the pics…
…as a minority, I was of the belief if it was ONE thing they should’ve steered clear of, it’d have been the Bezos wedding. There’s something very mendacious about how that man has conducted himself. Some of us hoped even the promise of bags and “high fashun” would fall short of luring Purse Blog.
Well I enjoyed seeing more of the guests and the bags they carried. The uber wealthy have just as much right to celebrate a marriage and enjoy themselves. If you don’t like seeing an American success story then skip the article.
In my opinion, an American success story is not one couple spending 55 million dollars on a wedding while American kids go hungry and without healthcare.
…we love an American Success Story as much as the next person. We were hoping that tone-deaf, tacky situation wouldn’t be touted as an “…american success story…” because it’s not.
It most definitely is an American Success Story, these are successful Americans enjoying themselves. The fact that you dislike them doesn’t change it.
…so they successfully married? That wedding had nothing to do with how they made their fortunes, beloved.
that is the ‘success story’ part.
Every day it makes sense why the French threw hands.
King, to be honest, your comment doesn’t make much sense. These two are undeniably successful by every standard—financially, professionally, socially. The fact that the article focuses on their wedding rather than rehashing their entire life stories doesn’t negate their success.
I Appreciate the article and seeing the handbags. Thank you purseblog. This is what I come to you for. I don’t like the politics or the people of this wedding either but I do enjoy seeing the handbags! Thank you. And I LOVE seeing the LV soccer bag.
“money can’t buy you class” is very much a thing of the past imho. now, we should go “money can’t buy you a conscience.”
I do want to acknowledge that this article went to the extreme lengths toning it down, i.e. focusing on bags rather than the wearers. Just look at the captions. This event was overly, overly covered by every other outlets from every conceivable angles, except for focusing on the bags. It is unfair to ask a Purse blog to ignore it. It would be remiss.
As with any other sources, no one’s forced to read any of their reporting. And to the extremely offended, one can always refuse to visit the site, like, ever. That’s within one’s rights in all propriety. However, this is not a collective, the publishers are solely responsible and privileged to the content. Readership and stats are vital, so one trusts them making the fitting decisions. It’s their business.
All of us come to this site for various reasons. But abusing the “shop owner” is not wise. They are not elected, they are not put up by yours or my money, they do not (to my knowledge) declare to serve public interest in general as journalists. Therefore I say they have all the rights to do what they see fit.
Just gross.
This event was so tone deaf. It’s really gross given what’s going on in the world.
Why do you think they will stop all the extravagant activities? Just because of some silly war or bad politics? The world will NEVER be perfect, have no wars or starving children.
If it dosen’t affect them, why would they stop and care?
They have the money, and they’re living the sweet life and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s called survival of the fittest in this world. This is natural law.
SILLY war? Regardless of political affiliations, I hope I never stoop to calling a war silly because of purses.
Shame!
Only the people who don’t fear for their lives, livelihoods…or even worry about their kids being deployed to fight a grudge war would describe a war as “…silly…”
The amount of tone-deaf it takes to even type that out is colossal.
It’s pictures of purses on the arms of people. I come to this site to see different bags, not to see who is carrying them and where. Maybe I’m one of the few people who do that. It’s just so sad to see the negative comments on this post that have nothing to do with the actual bags. If the topic of the post bothers you, you can choose not to read it.
Long time PB follower but shame on you Megs for publishing this. Take it down if you have any integrity.
OK. For the bag lover, it is a vicarious thrill to see the bags and the clothes and the accessories and all the surrounding hoopla of the very rich. On one level I am envious– to the degree that I do not have this kind of wild spending ability, but there’s another level: a level of humanity and awareness of the state of most of the world today. In part thanks to these greedy oligarchs, most of whom supported the current regime, and especially Mr. Bezos who could have so easily not done so, this is just about the most tone-deaf and ostentatious event to occur in many a day. It’s one thing to behold a royal wedding and be all atwitter about that, but this is just sheer crass consumption at its worst. I realize I may sound like an old school fogey, but the fact is that Americans worship money and celebrity, so much so that they are being taught this is what to aspire to. Think children growing up and seeing this spectacle: instead of truth, honor, education, respect for others and the law, etc, etc., they are learning that only by being uber rich can anything much matter. A few things that really should matter seem to have gotten lost in the haze of acquiring. This is a dangerous direction, and though it is very good fodder for advertising, please think about what you are celebrating here.
Setting aside the tone deaf nature of the post and that these people could show up with no shame whatsoever, I do find Usher’s wife’s style to be quite playful. There, I said something nice. That’s all I got.
finally an interesting post about this topic
Some good taste some bad taste some cute bags some not so cute …but no surprises just what I would expect :)…. As for master artisans (and Full disclosure I will let you know I do have three degrees in fine arts)…. I decided to see how hard it would be to make a Birkin bag after six months of sourcing materials including genuine ostrich skin and goat skin from France, French linen thread etc I practiced on a few little patterns and then hand sewed my own Birkin bag completely from cutting out the pattern punching the holes etc….. and really it’s not that hard ….compared to other projects I have done…. the Hermes artisans only get a year of training and then they’re set loose on these very expensive bags… Sorry ladies you are paying for the name not the work which is fine no judgement just letting you know…. I do love bags and I have a large collection of all the designer names …so I understand I’m not criticising …. Lots of love to all the bag hags out there
Beautiful, Julie! Extending my admiration for you to take on this endeavor. And sourcing exotic materials. Actually, I would enjoy an article (or three) on bespoke handbag artisans.
THIS!! I would also definitely enjoy PB featuring bespoke handbag artisans!
They’re literally counterfeiting a Hermès Birkin bag that the design of is protected by a COPYRIGHTED PATENT! 🤦♀️ There is nothing to be proud of here. If it was an original design, that’s more worthy of praise, not THIS 💀
Absolutely agree that a copyrighted design should not be replicated in mass quantities. Look at the WalMart “Birkin” craze. However, many artist “copy” great works of art, sculpture, music (ie the brushstrokes of a Picasso or Van Gogh). That is how artist improve their vision and skill level. This recreation of Hermes is purportedly that.
Just to clarify with kindness — I was supporting the idea of PurseBlog highlighting bespoke handbag artisans. There’s something truly special about those who design and handcraft with artistry and a unique vision. 🤍
Now you are snowflaking on us after lecturing us all earlier in the thread. 🤡🤡🤡
Wow. So many comments. In terms of bags, I observe that about 80% of luxury bag carriers seem to believe the display of such a bag elevates or “fixes” the entire outfit. No matter how much money is spent, this is completely untrue. Lots of great bags. Simultaneously, lots of ugly, or tacky, or incoherent looks that sadly, the bags cannot save.
I believe they could have had a wonderful wedding and used the remainder of the money to feed the hungry. Oh well, if you got it flaunt it. Only a truly sophisticated wedding would include the Kardashians.
So true re Khardashians, add Oprah to the mix too…
Didn’t read the article. Didn’t look at the pictures. I’ve been sick of hearing about this wedding since the engagement. I have not read any coverage.
I came straight to the comments, and they did not disappoint.
Seriously…….I’m just here to read the comments. They’re pretty entertaining.
Khloe my god class it up.
I wish you’d also cover the bags that were on display at the Abedin/Soros extravaganza in the Hamptons!
Gonna go out on a limb and say that one won’t be covered at all.
But the sweatshop warehouse dude? Absolutely.
