We’ve been talking a lot about big bags over the last 5 years or so. Designers have been pushing them for seasons, but despite their ubiquity on the runways, their presence wasn’t felt in the same capacity in real life.
Then, in 2022, Saint Laurent debuted its viral Icare Maxi Shopping Bag, and finally, it seemed like the big bag movement was actually getting moving. The bag was hard to ignore, and in the seasons that followed, the big bags of other designer brands were taking off too.
Big bags, it seemed, were officially back, with a BIG push from Saint Laurent. This season, they’re here to stay, and Bella Hadid just gave us a sneak peek at the latest big bag from Saint Laurent in the form of a smooshy, relaxed tote.
A Blast from the Past
Undeniably reminiscent of the Saint Laurent of the mid-late 2000s under the direction of Stefano Pilati, the bag is defined by a large but sleek Y sitting at its center, formed by leather edging. Dubbed the Y Bag, Anthony Vaccarello will delight fans who prefer a bit more subtle branding with this upcoming release.
The Y Bag is void of the classic YSL Cassandre hardware, offering a more understated take on the logo trend. Like Bella Hadid, who wore the bag for the first time ever earlier this week in LA, we are intrigued. Launching later this year, the Y Bag will retail for $3,600. More info to come!

Bella Hadid’s reveal of Saint Laurent’s newest bag is fabulous! The design is already catching my eye. Excited to see how it will fit into the fashion scene.
Love this bag however, it seems YSL hasn’t taken notes from Adidas. Bella Hadid should NOT be the poster child for their brand nor anyone else’s for that matter. There are far too many other faces that would be better choices for this gorgeous and stunning handbag.

It has been a good while since I wanted to haul around a big bag! I have a Neverfull when a big bag is truly needed, I just wouldn’t purchase this bag.

Now this is NICE! I always feel conspicuous carrying my Icare. But, not sure about how the straps are stitched to the bag if you load it down.
I noticed the way the straps are connected to the bag right away. I feel like with a medium to heavy load, you’ll have popped stitches really quick.
