Louis Vuitton Refreshes Its Fan Favorite Bags for Spring 2024

Iconic silhouettes get a bit of slouch and new proportions take over...

Louis Vuitton Spring 2024 17

Ever obsessed with exploring Louis Vuitton’s roots in the spirit of travel, Nicolas Ghesquière presented his stunning Spring 2024 collection yesterday afternoon in Paris. The runway show set was a sight to behold in and of itself, designed to look like the inside of a hot air balloon. The ambiance welcomed guests with a warm summery light that was cast over the runway. Then, the first model hit the runway, and it was all eyes on Vuitton.

A stunning array of flowy maxi skirts made up the first handful of looks to hit the runway, some styled with bomber jackets and others paired with silk blouses. Part high-fashion but actually part wearable, an array of consumer-friendly bags were paired with the RTW. Overall, the collection was extraordinary, comprising all of Ghesquière’s strengths.

The Bags of Louis Vuitton Spring 2024

Looking at the bags further, models walked with an array of shapes that collectors will surely fall for. Oozing hints of quintessential Parisian elegance, the bags are deeply inspired by the Maison’s roots. Iconic shapes like the Dauphine and the Alma are given twists of newness in the form of slouchy, supple leathers, while other shapes are given a vertical north/south update. Mini bag lovers will rejoice in new Monogram pieces as well as metallic updates to graphic Damier. The newly relaunched GO-14 also appeared on the runway in classic colors with a bit of a twist, literally.

Eye candy galore! There are some seriously fun bags here

I love the slouchy style of the alma! I love slouchy, unstructured bags in general so it’s nice to see some new ones from LV

Kimberly

OMG! I love it! I’m looking for a new black bag and that is going to be it! If I can get my hands on one!!!!

Sandy

I thought I had purchased all of the LV that I liked but that cute little bag in pic 4, put a long strap/cross body strap on it and I want it!

Joan

These are fantastic!!!

Terri

Huge fan of the camera bags, SO cute.
Also love the cube bags and vanity cases.

Clothes are wearable, timeless and simply nice. Was kinda nice surprise to see those fresh and elegant French style clothes. I guess NG must have been told to design something wearable and not so theatrical futuristic style under current economy crisis. However bags are ridiculously boring compared to other brands. Still nice detail though.

At least my cellphone can fit in some of the smaller size bags. I’m liking a couple of these bags but I’m hoping other prints will be available besides monogram.

Fun catchy collection. The large Alma looks like it has a bit of Kelly influence (which is not a criticism); I do wish the inside had been a brighter color (makes it easier to find stuff). Favorites are photos 7 and 16 (including that leather coat!). Not sure about combining the Malletage leather with the Twist closure in the GO-14. I still prefer the Malletage Alma PM.

A couple/few of these bags are cute/new outlines. I like the integral hand-hold cutout on the circular Mono one (but hate the HUGE LV) and the large all-leather belted bags. But too many look like retreads from other recent collections, and a couple look “borrowed” from other designers (Loewe hammock bag and Chanel cosmetic bag, here’s lookin’ at you!). That single-handle vertical Alma-type in Epi leather would be a horror to open if it’s not sitting on something to prevent it from gaping open. (Can you imagine trying to get your things out of it whilst you’re walking?) And the Twist variations just aren’t novel enough to bother — who’e ever guess they were’t from a few years ago?

Eskarina

Yes, I’m getting some Chanel and Fendi vibes here!

Linda

Love the little back tweed number… adding to my wish list 🙂
