In the world of luxury fashion and the ever-changing game of creative director musical chairs, ten years is an incredible feat, something to admire and celebrate. And Louis Vuitton is doing just that. Its Fall 2024 collection, which was presented in the Cour Carrée at the Louvre, the venue where it all began, marks ten years of Nicolas Ghesquière at its helm.
This monumental milestone has served as a point of reflection for Ghesquière, who used his journey over the last ten years as a starting point for his fall collection. There are references from past collections, like the now-iconic Petite Malle, which debuted alongside Ghesquière’s back in 2014.
Also, clear odes to the Maison’s history in trunk-making and its roots in travel are seen throughout the collection, two things which have become integral to Ghesquière’s work at Louis Vuitton. While the references to the past are clear, this collection, like the many that have come before, doesn’t feel redundant in the least.
Tiny Trunks, House Staples, and More
That same reflection carries over to the bags as well. You’ll find classics like the Alma alongside newer shapes like the Side Trunk, bearing historic details that point to the Maison’s storied trunks. The Go-14, which returned to the runway last year, is back again this season. Its pillowy, crisscrossing pattern, which mimics the interior of Louis Vuitton trunks, is applied to the Petite Malle, too.
Classic Monogram and Epi leather also made waves; within this bag-heavy collection, there’s a little bit of something for everyone. Both classic lovers and Louis Vuitton seasonal collectors alike will delight. View more below, images via Louis Vuitton.
