Similar to the LBD, everyone needs an LBB—little (or big) black bag in their rotation. Black is instantly chic, goes with everything, and won’t show wear and tear as quickly as other colors will.
However, as much as we all love a good black bag, black can get to be, well a little boring and a bit repetitive. Still, it’s understandable that bold, bright colors can be a bit intimidating.
However, there are a few colors that can easily act as neutrals while simultaneously acting as pops of color. Red will forever be one of those hues, and there’s a reason why it remains in designers’ lineups season after season.
If you’re looking for a less WOW factor, there are a slew of other colors that offer the same versatility as red without packing a big punch in saturation. Many of these colors are currently trending, meaning you can find a variety of picks from all of your favorite designers.
There’s no time like the present to ditch the black in favor of something a little more fun. From olive green and butter yellow to luxe dark browns, these picks are anything but basic and will pair well with much of your wardrobe (so you don’t even have to worry about cost-per-wear).

I agree with most of the colours mentioned as useful for combination and rotation except for the olive green. I think that olive green is a classical seasonal colour but it is very difficult to combine with other palettes of colour out of the specific season. As neutral does not match with others in the same color (greens), and as contrast one could only offer some balance with very bright colours such as mostaza or orange, that many person do not use frequently. I have tried that color time a ago and I have removed from my greens in favour of other greens that offers higher versatility.
My research indicates that “Mostaza” is a mustard color and also the name of a popular fast food restaurant (secondly to McDonald’s) in Argentina. I love learning new things from all of the brilliant commentators! Thx!
I don’t like black handbags. So, my collection is a rainbow of colors except for green. Still looking for one. I enjoy seeing articles that embrace colored handbags.
I don’t try to match my bag with my outfit. I carry the style of bag that I need for the day.
One of my first designer bags was a Ferragamo bag that was both burgundy and olive green. But after carrying it a few times, I found the color combo looked dowdy (my friends agreed). So I remain a bit wary about these two colors. IME, they are shades that are easy to get wrong.
