There is something so undeniably chic about the east/west silhouette. Its distinct, elongated body stands out from the rest and the shape is quickly becoming one of the year’s breakout stars.
We can (in part) thank Pieter Mulier and Alaïa who took the fashion world by storm earlier with the release of the cult-favorite Le Teckel Bag.
The long, slim shoulder catapulted the east/west trend, and while there are an array of options popping up, Alaïa’s Le Teckel has remained the poster child for this trend—until now. That’s right, we’ve finally got the scoop on the much-anticipated Khaite Simona, which popped up on every fashion girl’s radar following the Fall shows earlier this year.
The shape, which launches with the brand’s Fall 2024 collection, will continue to be a staple in the line-up, showcased for Resort 2025 as well.
The Details
Since the brand’s bag line was born in 2019, designer Catherine Holstein has stayed true to Khaite’s overall vision of clean, simple designs, allowing its quality to do the talking. Khaite’s bags are no different and the sleek, minimal shape of an east/west shoulder bag is perfectly in line with the quiet luxury vibe of Khaite’s offerings.
The Simona debuts in one size, offering a clean, refined shape with curved lines. The shoulder bag is fitted with double straps and a top zip, which opens to reveal a suede-lined interior and a card pocket. Offering a sophisticated appeal all wrapped up in a little package with overall dimensions of 5″ L x 14″ W x 2.4″ D, the Khaite Simona has all the makings of a hit.
Get your fall wardrobe ready and buy now via Khaite for $2,100 or pre-order via Luisaviaroma, shipping in October.
The name is hilarious and Alaïa gets 10/10 just for having a sense of humor.
Just did an exhaustive comparison of this bag and the Le Teckel. Aesthetically I prefer this bag-the dimensions are slightly more pleasing. But the Le Teckel comes in better colors and has a longer zipper. Question: I grew up in the match-matchy 70s so I still secretly want my bag and shoes to match (I don’t do it tho!). Would the creme version of this bag be a good option for fall? I have too much black, don’t need brown or red.
much better,
This bag is a better version IMO.
Both bags remind me of a vintage Fendi that I have.
