Get Ready to Turn Heads with the New Gucci Blondie Bag

If you think this bag looks familiar, it is!

Gucci Blondie Bag Review

What feels like eons ago, I was introduced to the Gucci Soho Disco Bag, and that bag quickly became one of my most beloved bags and a bag that, at times, you couldn’t walk a city block without seeing someone else carrying as well. There are so many reasons that the bag was a great success, and now, the Gucci Blondie aims to follow up the Soho Disco’s success story.

The evolution of the brand and the design only makes sense that there is an update on this bag, but fear not, many elements remain. The reason this bag is so versatile and adored stems from its usability, functionality, and surprisingly spacious interior.

New Design Elements

Part of the Gucci Blondie Family, the Gucci Blondie Small Shoulder Bag gives you that soft, rectangular camera style bag with the round Interlocking leather G on the front. This GG design originates from the House’s archives, which the brand has continued to pull from to offer that feeling of historical codes.

Aside from that, the bag also features diagonal stitching across the front, giving a nice finishing touch. The side tassel detail will feel like a Deja Vu because it is. The shoulder strap is adjustable with a 21.4″ drop, allowing crossbody wear.

What Fits

I think one of the elements of this bag that sells me the most is how seemingly compact yet entirely spacious it truly is. Dimensions are 8.3″W x 6.1″H x 3.1″D, and the bag feels entirely light, which means daily carrying isn’t a pain (literally).

What fits in the Gucci Blondie

As you can see from this photo, my daily items fit easily inside, including a sunglasses case with sunglasses, a small wallet, my kid’s meds, my phone, lipsticks, snacks, and other small items. For a life on the go, a bag like this will be one you will grab often.

Disco is nicer

Yazi

I hate to say it but it looks like a fake Gucci bag.

Ζoe

Turning heads? That’s a good one!

Ali A

I just purchased the soho disco (pre-loved) after having it on my wishlist since 2017. I strongly dislike the logo on the new bag, as well as the price. I do appreciate that the reinvention will keep the soho disco “relevant” longer, even though I love it regardless.

SonShownu

the tassel looks cute, but the big logo reminds me of ‘Xena Warrior Princess’ : Chakram weapon.

EconomicallySavvy

Why did I initially think this was a Tory Burch…until I turned my head…lol.

Mopsy

I miss the Soho Disco. Would look at this one in person though.

Passerine

Except in price! $1800 for what is essentially a Disco with tassels seems excessive.

Samantha

Do you know if the tassel is removable?

Adwoa

My soho disco is my favourite bag! Loving some of the new colours, but I’m wondering why this costs twice as much as the disco!

Sandy

There are other colors, more appealing IMO. I think it’s a great bag!

Samantha

I like the blue; it’s so pretty.

Melissa Glover

No more rose beige or bright red sadly.

J B

Nix the tassel.

Mia

The top of this tassel seems unfinished, like it’s missing something.

Ami

On the Soho Disco, there was a silver or gold hardware detail that held the tassel together and attached it to the bag. It’s that exact detail which makes me think that the Soho looks more lux than this version.

Burla

This bag looks a lot more sophisticated than the Soho. I think that’s a step up.

Ami

As someone who owns 3 Soho Discos, I’m gonna pass on this. I like the diagonal stitching but the logo looks so bloated. I also like the hardware detail on the tassel of the Soho Disco compared to this one which removed it. I don’t see why this is now double the price of the old design. Is it because they used more leather to make that logo? Is it because they used additional threads to stitch on the diagonal lines? But they saved money by removing the hardware on the tassel.

Namaste

Just recently purchased the Gucci soho from a Gucci store and it was $1490 not far off on pricing for this new version.

Jennifer

I recently got a pre-loved excellent condition Soho for a little over $800. It prob should be less, but it’s almost like starting at the beginning.

Morgan

$980 > $1200 > $1350 > $1390 > $1490 > Discontinued. I’ve been tracking the price increases since I bought mine in 2017 haha

Samantha

I stopped following it when it reached $1,200. 😂

Linda H

Happy I never sold my black Disco.

Gigi

Me too!

Julia

The soho disco was nicer and never hit 1000$ btw.
I like Gucci’s leather and their craftsmanship, but this isn’t inspiring or stylish. They’re better off continuing the Disco and increasing the price the same way everyone else did.

Catlin

Ugh, sadly no. I miss the Soho Disco already.

Slim

So happy, I kept mine!

Gigi

I was actually on the Gucci site last week and came across this bag – I’m really glad you reviewed it. I own the original black Disco (which I love love love) and I wanted to see what the prices have increased to now and stumbled across the Blondie. I’m not a fan of the horizontal stitching personally but I can see why others would like it. I cannot believe the price, though! I believe I paid a little over $900 for my disco a few years ago….

Meg

For me, Gucci can do no wrong

Joan Lallave

Not worth it. I have the original black and two days after wearing looks like a regular target bag. I had it less than a year and the tassel fell off. Repairs took 3 months, bag doesn’t smell like leather and looks cheap. Keep your money people.

Sally

I disagree. I have the bag in red, it is beautiful and wears really well. Have not experienced any quality issues.
