In contrast, the beige Baldwin variation brought a softer, more sculptural feel to the lineup. Knotted leather detailing and delicate whipstitch trim added tactile interest while maintaining the bag’s clean, pared-back aesthetic. Though intentionally compact, both versions carried the essentials with ease, proving that practical day handbags don’t need to sacrifice personality or sophistication. The price is $226.

The Cashmere Gathered Clutch felt like the perfect way to close out the day. Softly gathered leather gave the silhouette an elegant, sculptural quality, while the subtle gold-tone hardware and chain strap added just enough polish for evening. The featured hobo is a direct rip off of a Bottega Veneta design. Ew.
The issue with Donna Karan is that the brand is forever ruined by the disaster of what happened to the diffusion line DKNY. Although DKNY started as a great second line… it turned into a nasty business and fashion mess.
These are nice but I love her O/G made in Italy bags from about 20 years ago with the suede linings. They were soooo heavy but they were made so well!!

Many brands seem to take inspiration from one another, to put it mildly. But these are nice bags for those who can’t afford BV, McCartney or Dior.

The issue with these bags are not quality or aesthetics. One has to dress intentionally polished for these bags to work. And that is a burden sometimes. Having left professional life, I tend to dress more relaxed (not athleisure, also not Loro Piana level of leisure). I find it convenient to have a watch, a pair of shoes, mostly a bag to speak for me. I often get good service and proper attention that way while still dressing relaxed.
Yesterday I was in store for a by-the-way kind of stroll and browsing designer clothing section. My Goyard bag basically beckoned the sales associate to me and she exuded relative confidence that there’s a sale to be made. (And she was right. I am happy for her and I am happy to not be dismissed at a glance.) This works repeatedly for me, like on vacation when I’m dressed to walk the city rather than going to a function, something on me will telegraph that I just might not be a “waste of their time”.

It doesn’t matter about the style. The name on the bag screams TJMaxx, Macys or Rack. And that’s fine if that’s your thing, it’s certainly not mine. Just like Lagerfeld, Kors, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, DKNY, the name Donna Karen is watered down, dated and a little tacky. Could be the best designed bags ever. The name ruins it for me.
