Every Single Chanel Bag Featured on Netflix’s Emily in Paris

From crossbody bags to tweed totes, here is a definitive list of all the Chanel bags stealing the show.

If, like us, you’ve been binge-watching Netflix’s latest comedy-drama Emily in Paris, you may have noticed the plethora of designer bags that are featured on-screen. The series follows an American girl who moves to Paris to work in marketing as she explores all that the City of Love has to offer. Patricia Field, the brains behind all of Sex and the City’s groundbreaking fashion moments, worked as the show’s consulting costume designer.

Filmed on location in Paris, the show transports viewers to an array of the city’s hotspots, from the Eiffel Tower to the Palais Garnier Opera House. But we couldn’t take our eyes off of the bags! A whole host of brands appear, however none more so than Chanel—the epitome of Parisian class. The titular character Emily sports many a Chanel gems, including some limited edition pieces. Here, we list every single one.

Chanel Limited Edition Pearl Bag

Early on in the series viewers see Emily cavorting around Paris in anticipation of her boyfriend Doug’s visit. She partakes in stereotypical Parisian activities, from sampling macaroons to shopping at luxury boutiques, all while wearing Chanel’s Pearl Crossbody Bag. This limited edition piece hangs loosely across Emily’s torso in effortless French girl style. We then see Doug and her break up over the phone against the backdrop of the famous Panthéon monument. Emily, if you’re able to get your hands on this rare Chanel find, who needs a boyfriend!

Chanel Round as Earth Bag

Clearly a fan of round Chanel purses, Emily is also spotted wearing a circular Chanel crossbody bag in patent teal. The design features the house’s famous interlocking CC logo and a thick chain top handle as well as a longer crossbody strap. On-screen we see Emily rock the style at her new office. Yet the bag’s dual functionality makes it the perfect accessory to accompany Emily on a whole host of Parisian outings!

Chanel Evening by the Sea Clutch

Trotting along the City of Love’s streets, Emily totes Chanel’s Evening by the Sea Clutch in a sapphire blue shade. Carried as a wristlet, the distinct design oozes an elegant, yet understated, style.

Chanel Pearl Flap Bag

Coco Chanel once famously said, “Pearls are perfect for every occasion”. These gems have long been a staple of her namesake brand. The only thing that could make Emily’s outfit of a black and white co-ord set and red beret, even more, French is Chanel’s Pearl Flap Bag. From the house’s spring 2019 collection, this Chanel Flap is lined with faux pearls and serves us with some serious old-style French glamour vibes.

Chanel Calfskin Flap Bag and Coin Purse

Considering that Emily runs around Paris from one chic affair to another, it’s no wonder she’s a fan of Chanel’s Calfskin Quilted Flap Bag and Coin Purse combo. Released for fall/winter 2019, the design features diamond-stitched calfskin leather and comes in a rich mocha hue. The bag’s leather chain strap features a shoulder pad so that Emily can travel from a dinner party to a fashion show in comfort. A coin purse is attached as a bag charm to create the now-coveted multi-bag look. Plus, the addition is perfect storage for Emily’s favorite macarons!

Chanel Classic Flap Bag

Emily dons a full Chanel look to attend a party at a swanky Paris art gallery. Her outfit features a Chanel biker jacket and graphic print scarf but our eyes remained fixed on her Classic Flap Bag in glistening emerald green.

Chanel 19 Waist Bag

Since its launch in March 2019, the Chanel 19 bag has become a consumer favorite. The almost cult-like following of this new design combined with the enduring popularity of the belt bag style make the Chanel 19 Waist Bag a must-have piece for any Chanel lover, including, it seems, Emily. The character sports this stylish hands-free accessory in deep fuchsia.

Chanel Shearling Sheepskin Flap Bag

Cold weather typically gives way to some unflattering fashion choices, from mismatched layers to unsightly woolly hats. But not in Paris. When the rest of the world has a tendency to put style on the back burner and focus on keeping warm, out come French girl’s cozy yet stylish ensembles. Emily understands this. When the show’s plot moves into the colder months, this protagonist doesn’t let her bag game cool. She sports a shearling and crumpled sheepskin Chanel Flap Bag in black and beige from the house’s fall/winter 2019 collection.

Chanel Tweed Shoulder Bag

From watching the series it’s clear Emily is a fan of small crossbody bags. However, no one is immune to the appeal of a spacious shoulder bag! Emily carries a vintage Chanel shoulder bag in hot pink tweed with black checks from the house’s fall/winter 1995 – 1996 campaign. It may just make you fall back in love with big bags.

If Chanel is old lady, then so are cashmere sweaters, pea coats, red lipstick, and number of other items I view as classics imho. I love classic flaps and their enduring resale value. My bag brands vary but kind of swings from quality European brands like FredericT all the way to Chanel. And yes, as a woman who raised three wonderful humans as a single parent, I love their status too. I worked very hard to afford my Chanels and love each one. One day I will leave them to my daughter and know that she will love them too. I’m interested in hearing what other brands people love as well.

I never really got why Chanel was so popular and expensive?… It always screamed old lady to me. Plus the logos are so tacky and dated.

Ashley

Most people associate high price tag with something of good quality and makes them desire it more but I also feel like channel is very old lady feel to it and I associate it mostly with high shoulder pads in 80s and that gold awful braided chain .
I like more Gucci because it has vintage 70s feel to it and they seem to have more fun stuff . Chanel has billion quilted bag in different colors and some seasons they embellish with pearls or some tacky material . If I were to get spend 7 or above on bag I think I will just get something from Hermès .

pinksky777

Couldn’t agree with this more.

notazealiabanks

1,000,000,000,000,000% agree! I have always thought that their popularity and desirability are linked to their outrageous prices, so it is kind of an imposed taste to me.

This makes me think of the Birkin effect, even when there are some people who truly like Chanel/Birkins because of their design and not the status. Of course, everyone who likes them because of the latter will deny it and may not even be aware that they don’t really love the design itself.

This is just a thought that I have had on multiple occasions.

pinksky777

Exactly! Do you REALLY love the bag, or if we ripped of that tacky logo you wouldn’t look at it twice? They need a Daniel Lee to take over Chanel and update the crap out of their boring designs!

Rose

I love Chanel bags, logo or not, and I don’t see what’s so old lady about them. They are timeless and I never get tired of carrying them. I have Bottega and Chanel bags and I appreciate both designs equally.

notazealiabanks

My thoughts exactly! And then again with the Daniel Lee thing (to which I 100% agree), it would not be Chanel anymore.

I remember some crazy person posted something some weeks ago about everybody being a poser with Bottega Veneta and I must say I agree to certain extent — Bottega Veneta is amazing, just not what it used to be. Not even by a glimpse.

I guess what I am trying to say with this is that this old-lady aesthetic is deeply rooted in Chanel’s DNA, so yeah, he could come and create an über-cool Chanel that I would probably be crazy about, but it would not be the Chanel that everyone devotedly “adores”.

pinksky777

Well I think there’s a happy medium here. Regarding what Daniel did for Bottega, in my opinion he took all the best timeless aesthetics of the brand but put a more appealing modern twist to it. So it’s not like I don’t recognize the brand at all anymore you know? Like what he did with the pouch was take the beautiful Lauren clutch from the 70s and just tweaked it to make the bag more desirable to the younger generations (which is genius because that’s the main group who are buying all these bags nowadays anyways). The leather is just as supple and amazing as the old Bottega and the quality is still very much there. I own 3 old Bottega pieces and 4 new Bottega pieces, and they’re very comparable in many ways I can tell you that. Where as I have a few friends who adore Chanel and own several bags, and I’ve heard not so good things regarding the quality of their bags now (ironic because they’re always increasing their prices).

Sandy

Nothing wrong with BV, some of the bags are great, some others not so much. I prefer the clothing to the bags honestly. What I find amusing is like Celine a few years back, everybody is on the bandwagon, now Celine, not so much. I think the BV craze is similar. I prefer to invest in bags with longevity like Chanel or Hermès.

pinksky777

Longevity but to who? The older women and “influencers” who are gifted the bags for the most part. The bags are boring, beautiful but boring. I can honestly say I don’t know one single girl (and I know a lot) in the last 7-10 years that has bought or saved for a Chanel bag. In the 25-40 age range it seems that we’re just not that intrigued as much with the brand anymore. Like a million ppl were crazy about the classic jumbo 7 or so years ago and everyone had one and now it’s just like… what else is new? From what I’ve heard from my sources in Europe and Asia, the brands to take interest and invest in are Balenciaga, Bottega and Gucci. The old Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton etc. aren’t seeming to reinvent or improve themselves because they do not have to. They have enough ppl buying their dated stuff and they don’t see the need for appealing to a younger crowd.

Sandy

I love my Chanel bags so each to their own. I can absolutely tell you there is nothing old lady about a Chanel bag, you are just styling it incorrectly.

notazealiabanks

Well, I am glad you are one of the very few who truly loves their Chanels. More power to you!

pinksky777

You can style it any which way you want but to most ppl it looks old lady sorry. I’ve heard this 100 times from women of all ages. It’s just too classic period. I feel the look should be effortless and cool, not “look at me I own a Chanel bag”.

Sandy

What?? Now you can say the outfits above are overdone or tacky and I would not disagree but old lady, nope! Chanel makes so many different very successful bags including classics.

Sajid Bin Mohammad

I think what the “old lady” – ness refers to here is that Chanel bags are timeless enough to be carried by both the old and young alike. And that’s why you see many elderly people carrying it because it suits their aesthetic etc. However, I feel that most of Chanel’s mini bags (like the Pearl Bag above) are more of novelty bags and I wish Chanel did less of those and focus more on their totes. I have a feeling that Chanel associates novelty with youth but I feel that’s not quite right.

Emily

Does anyone know exactly what that
Classic Flap Bag in glistening emerald green is actually called? Articles have been saying it’s from Chanel’s fall/winter 2017 collection, but I can’t find it anywhere!

melissa

the outfits on the show were so tacky ahhhhhhh
when you see her first arriving w/ her luggage and then her amount of different outfits/bags, it annoyed me lol

alisa.g

French style in general is timeless and understated, so IMHO the classic Chanel bags work well with this and the novelty bags that are supposed to skew younger just scream tacky.

All in good fun, but wow, Emily’s outfits are mostly hideous — to the point that no bag could “elevate” them.

love corgis

I totally agree.

Sara

I think her outfits are quite awfull… do not like them at all… and I really do not get – how she if she just working in the middle level position can buy all those bags and chanel jackets? For me more sense would make if french boss lady would have chanel and I think it would also fit better in her style

DanD

Definitely AGREE. I get a 0 on a Chanel girl from her.

Gene

Did this Heffa just say just like us? Who watches this show????

Chelsea Girl

Really enjoyed watching Emily in Paris. Was so sick of all the Murder shows on Netflix. Also, when you’re a European living in America, your eyes hurt from the lack of style here. Emily in Paris was a combination of binge and nostalgia – Binging on style and nostalgic yearning for a stroll down the Seine again. Ah, and her Chanel bags were to die!

Ashley

I think why I also associate Chanel with old lady like is because growing up I saw so many women carrying Chanel bags and they always had that braided gold and leather chain, same quilting work . Chanel bags literally look the same . There is nothing exciting about it except the fact that people know it’s expensive . People trying to elevate their self worth by carrying something expensive . Usually when I carry bags what’s exciting for me is that it completes my outfits and it has super good quality and unique way to open . Only bags In my collection is Gucci , saint laurent , givenchy , chloe and acne studios. Only other bag I like to own is Celine triomphe bag or their classic box bag. I have absolutely no interest in any Chanel bags and price tag is not the issue . I just hate the look of most of their bags .

nancy aly

You just can’t afford it

shopper

Nobody dresses like this in Paris

psny15

Tres chic Emily ????

valerie

Yes, all young girls can afford fifty thousand dollars worth of Chanel bags. Very realistic! I’m too old to care about shows like this, so I haven’t seen it, is she an heiress?

Something I have noticed, along with the recent Chanel price increases, are corresponding increases in price in the resale market.

Two years ago I scored a gorgeous 1980’s crimson lambskin single flap bag in really good condition, with the gold plated hardware, for just around a thousand dollars. I love that thing and use it constantly.

I was browsing Rebag and RealReal the other day and found 4 bags from the same vintage, one with a really dirty strap..and they were $2900 and $3000! Glad I bought when I did.
