On Monday, Chanel presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, returning home to the Grand Palais after a multi-year renovation.
While the collection itself was an ode to Gabrielle Chanel, the runway show paid homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld and his fascination with the art of the runway show. The presentation was themed in a very Lagerfeld way, with the space completely transformed for the occasion.
Models passed through an oversized birdcage inspired by a decorative piece from Gabrielle Chanel’s Parisian apartment at the iconic 31 rue Cambon. Acting as both a complement to the architecture of the Grand Palais and a metaphor for spreading one’s wings, the room’s mood captured the essence of the collection.

Dreamy, fluid fabrics sit alongside various classic tweed pieces with modern touches. There are slit skirts paired with matching vests and colorful separates worn over button-downs. An ode to the archives, a myriad of caped garments are seen throughout, like jackets in tweed and flowy chiffon dusters.
Distinctly feminine details are present throughout, like embellished buttons, feathers, ruffles, and pussy bows. A classic Chanel palette of neutrals with pops of pastels like blue, pink, and yellow extends to the bags as well, which are a mix of classic silhouettes like the 11.12 and new bags like a soft, cinched chain bag and a quilted drawstring bucket bag.
Colorful tweeds and feathery details echo the ready-to-wear. Meanwhile, novelty lovers will delight in the birdcage bag, shown in a mix of metals. View bags from the runway below.

Chanel Spring 2025 Runway Bags

“Chanel Spring 2025 Pays Homage to Gabrielle Chanel”Isn’t that every Chanel show ever?
This entire post feels like it’s written by AI.
100% correct
WOW. I actually like most of these. That is something I have not said in a very long time. Good riddance Virgine, hello dawn of a new era! Now let’s hope Hedi Slimane slides in as creative director and really shakes this house up!
the huge white shoulder bag, love it, but i’m pretty sure their prices is not lovely.
I loved this collection! It was so beautiful! The bags, the clothes, I love it all!
Honestly, I really don’t see this collection being any different from the previous ones… It all looks like the early bird special at the country club in Who Cares, Florida (apart from the platforms, those birds would break their legs). Yawn.
I feel like I’ve seen all these before (except the absurd bird cages). This is just my opinion but it’s of a senior citizen with decades of experience: instead of buying Chanel bags at ridiculous prices, invest the money instead in a low cost ETF. Your future self will GREATLY thank you. For the record, I don’t care about any of my Chanel bags anymore. I do however care about my financial security.
Exactly! A $10K Chanel bag won’t appreciate in value like an ETF. Chanel bags don’t hold their value in today’s market. I sold all of my Chanel Flaps, unfortunately at a loss, and bought stocks. I’ve more than recouped my money! Best financial decision, ever!
You can have both.
I do like the “Kelly” bag.
The bags and the clothes are not for me – but the platform shoes are fun! I suspect I’m alone in that, but I don’t care!
You are not alone!
I love them too! Great shape to them
I must admit, the coral bag made me pause, scroll down, then back up. I am older, so maybe it reminds me of something I loved in the late 70’s. I dunno. Doubt I will ever have the chance to own it, and my life will be “ok”.
That birdcage purse! I’m madly in love.
Price available upon requests
As if the coco handle doesn’t look enough like an Hermes Kelly, they actually made a Kelly bag and just slap a Chanel logo on it. Sadly Chanel died with Karl Lagerfeld.
You realize that Hermès didn’t invent the Kelly bag right?
Details please!!!
Had to look this up, but has anyone ever seen a photo of the H.J. Cave & Sons bag? https://handbagdesigner101.substack.com/p/the-origin-of-the-trapezoid-bag
Yikes – the clothes and bags are both outdated and unattractive – thank god they fired Virnigie- how the heck do you mess Chanel up? Unbelievable
This collection was not Virginia’s. It’s created by the house ateliers.
this was actually beautiful for once. though I was missing the swastikas to truly feel that coco chanel vibe
Chanel is owned by the Wertheimer brothers who are jewish, the brand doesn’t reflect Coco Chanel’s beliefs
🙄🙄🙄
All the flat quilting makes me sad for some reason. I really miss the shiny hardware, chevrons, sparkling caviar and puffy quilting from previous years before Virginie. (Though I know this isn’t her collection, I’m guessing there was a wild rush to get it done and they probably went in the direction she already been heading in.) Also not into the colors at all but I’m not a pastel person.
Not my style, but I do love the classic tweeds—I think they’re really pretty! And I’m happy to see more BIG bags! Great pics!
Chanel has thee best quality bags on the market today!
Said no one ever.
I love the sorbet colors!
I’m so excited to see the “baby” of Hedi and Chanel! More than the baby of Harry and Meghan! 😘
