The Inevitable Chanel Price Increase 2026 Is Here

Here’s a full breakdown of new bag prices, how much they increased, and what it means for buyers.

Annually, there’s always a moment when the chatter starts to pick up again: Is Chanel about to raise its prices?

If you’ve followed the brand closely over the past decade, you already know the answer is rarely a surprise. Chanel has built a reputation not just on its heritage and design codes, but on a steady, strategic approach to pricing that tends to evolve year after year. And lately, that conversation feels even louder.

A big part of that is the renewed energy surrounding the house. Since Matthieu Blazy stepped into his role, there’s been a noticeable shift in excitement. The overall conversation around Chanel has picked up in a way that feels meaningful, not manufactured.

People are paying attention again, and not just in the way they always have. There are lines out the door at most Chanel boutiques, with very little stock due to the fervor over these new Blazy pieces.

With that kind of momentum, interest in Chanel’s core bags has only intensified. Classics remain classics, but there’s a fresh lens on them right now, one that blends long-standing desirability with a new wave of curiosity from both loyal clients and first-time buyers.

Which brings us back to pricing…

What We’re Seeing with the 2026 Increase

What was previously industry chatter has now been confirmed: Chanel’s latest price increase has officially taken effect as of April 2.

The last price increase that affected the majority of the Chanel bag family was in August of 2025, with a follow-up for the Chanel 25 family of bags in November of 2025. This latest adjustment continues that now-familiar cadence of incremental increases across key categories.

If you’ve been considering a purchase, or simply tracking the market the way many of us do, this is exactly the kind of moment that tends to shift buying timelines.

The Numbers

Based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the inflation rate for the full 2025 calendar year was 2.4%. Given that last year’s Chanel prices rose by 4.2–6% (depending on style), and the 2024 inflation rate was 3%, expectations were that prices would rise in the 3–4% range.

Now that the numbers are in, that’s largely where things have landed.

Most bags have increased by $200-$400, with percentage jumps hovering around 3–4%, and a few styles pushing just under 5%. The increases are measured but consistent across Chanel’s core lines, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing pricing strategy.

Notably, the new designs from Matthieu Blazy were not impacted by this round of increases and remain at their current prices, at least for now.

Classic Flap Bags See the Biggest Dollar Increases

Chanel’s most iconic category, the Classic Flap, saw increases across the board. The Mini sizes rose by $200, while all other sizes increased by $400.

New Blazy Styles Go Unchanged

As anticipated, and notably, all new Spring styles under Matthieu Blazy remain untouched. That’s a meaningful detail, especially as demand builds around this new era of Chanel, and could signal a more phased approach to pricing on newer designs.

New S/S StylesCurrent, Unchanged Price
Chanel Maxi Flapbag AS6231$8,500
Chanel Maxi Flapbag AS6233$9,300
Chanel Small Shopping Bag AS6243 (“Cerf Tote”)$7,000

Chanel Small Flap Bag AS6130 (“Preppy Coco” or “Chanel 26”)$5,100

What This Chanel Price Increase Means for Buyers

At the end of the day, this increase feels very in line with where Chanel stands right now.

The brand continues to see strong demand, especially around its core styles, and these steady, incremental price adjustments have become part of the rhythm. For buyers, it reinforces a familiar pattern: if you’ve been considering a Chanel bag, waiting rarely works in your favor.

At the same time, the fact that new designs under Matthieu Blazy remain unchanged adds an interesting layer, suggesting that this new era of Chanel is still taking shape, both creatively and strategically.

How much higher do prices have to rise before consumers, or the majority, say “enough”. Personally, I’ve reached my saturation point.

Fabuleux

The world economies are on the cusp of a major crisis brought on by this war on Iran. It’s gonna get a lot worse before it gets better. A few people are gonna get richer while the vast majority of us are gonna fall victim to another inflationary spike. This one lasting and totally avoidable. Good luck everyone!

hello_its_me

lol

jane doe

literally insane – but then again i guess people who regularly buy chanel bags aren’t affected by things like recession and economic down turn.

Anon

Agree, we have a high household income and good jobs but given the state of the global economy it feels crazy to spend $12k plus on a bag. Clearly I am not the target customer. Good thing that there are plenty of other interesting brands out there catering to more than just the 0.01%

Anon

I’m so shocked! It must be those high oil prices making costs impossible to manage. LOL

Marlo B

It is so appropriate this was announced on April Fools Day…as in only fools would buy new Chanel at these prices. There are SO MANY vintage classic flaps on the market that are more affordable and better quality.

edia

insane. but not as insane as printing the face of a literal nazi on all dustbags…

Franz

lol literally look at the state of the US right now. Fits right in!

Sam

Their item’s current prices and quality yikes.

Lori

Is their goal to keep increasing prices until they have no customers? If so, great job!

Frodo

TDB?

Meaghan Mahoney Dusil

What is it called when you see what you wrote correctly and then can’t see the mistake even when someone points it out to you……. That’s us!!

Changing to TBD… not to be confused with TDB…. which I am not sure why we used that! ha

Vlad Dusil

D’oh, I stared at the tables so long that it morphed into TBD. Sorry!

Elle4

Ahhhh!! I hope it’s not on the new bags already!

Sandy

Ugh, I like the Preppy Cocoa. I am glad I already invested in several Chanel bags, it is insane the price increase in just a few years!

Victoire Morel Vulliez

Does it also concern Europe ? China ? Japan ?

glana

April Fool everyone!

MeMeMe

Hopefully April‘s Fool??

Marionica

Chanel 25 Mini is missing from the table, there is no Large size at this time and the listed prices are incorrect. Small is currently $6400 etc.

Vlad Dusil

Fixed it, thanks for pointing it out!

What people need to understand MB already had social media capital before joining Chanel. His creations were everywhere and still are. Chanel doesn’t do social media but his new creative director does. Look at the hype!

Spring

The hype is REAL. I’m seeing MB’s new collections already resold on Madison Avenue Couture for quite the markup. Resellers obviously cashing in on hype. If you thought buying direct from boutique is crazy from a pricing perspective, MAC is charging anywhere from $3500-$7000 OVER retail. A bag that was $6500 over retail just sold a few days after being listed on MAC. Someone is willing to pay for the bag PLUS markup….

Kate

And yet, they don’t offer consignors great prices…

conspicuous_buyer

meh

Geraldine

If you’re concerned about price increases, then you’re too poor for Chanel.

Bex

True. I cant afford it, but Im obviously not the intended customer 🙂

Kate

I have a NWT black lambskin maxi flap in pristine, uncarried condition with the box and dustbag: GHW. I am in NYC/North NJ if anyone is interested. It’s a double flap from 2014. Tired of paying a commission to TRR, eBay, etc.!

DataKazKN

At these retail levels, I think resale comps matter more than ever before buying.

The tricky part is that preloved is not automatically “better value.” A vintage/single-flap piece, an older double flap, and a current boutique Classic Flap are not the same comparison. Condition, year, leather, full set and current retail price all need to be lined up first.

A lower resale price only matters if the bag is truly comparable.
