With the online launch of Chanel Spring 2011 comes the advent of Chanel Outstanding Pieces Spring 2011, which is the special moniker that the French brand uses for the most intricate, luxurious and expensive designs from each of its product categories. Encompassing everything from rare exotic leathers to hand embroidery, these bags are the creme de la creme from one of the finest leather goods companies in the world.

Would you like a Chanel Classic Flap completely covered in glittering crystals? It can be yours. What about a baby pink crocodile Mademoiselle bag? That too. Chanel doesn’t publicly release prices for thes pieces, but the old trope probably applies: If you have to ask, you can’t afford it. I know I can’t, but looking? Looking is free.

    Let me guess…some $50,000 ?

The Mademoiselle bags perplex me. They look like they can barely fit anything and they look like they’re hard to get into as well. \

    • I’m not a huge fan of the shape either. I think I would be able to fit my essentials in there, but I don’t feel any spark or excitement when I see them. It needs…something.

I have seen the shape of the Madamoiselle bags in so many alliterations from cheap brands to very expensive labels. I don’t find anything special about them.
Seeing that anything sparkle seems to find its way into my closet, I would probably have to put the crystallized Chanel on my wish list. Just in case money became no object.

to be honest i prefer the vintage collection, i buy one in Paris from a famous shop who is specialised for the vintage chanel bag … 1) for less expensive and 2) amaizing quality of baby croc !

Oh! That’s interesting. Maybe it’s just nostalgia for old school glamour this week what with the passing of Elizabeth Taylor, but all the newer things just aren’t impressing me this season. Maybe it’s time to go back to vintage!

Was it by any chance at Les 3 marches de Catherine B? This is hands down one of my favorite shopping destinations in Paris! And I completely agree with your comment about the vintage collection! If you are interested Catherine B also has a website at http://www.catherine-b.com/ Enjoy!

I love all of them…This is neither here nor there, but the “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” thing has always bothered me. Chanel, I want to know the extent to which I can’t afford it. I don’t know why it irritates me, but such is life.

I detest the “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it” saying for two reasons. First, there exist some extraordinarily wealthy and savvy people who don’t make a move unless they know the cost. They didn’t become wealthy by being stupid. Second, there are people of modest means who may have their hearts set on an expensive whatever. They watch their pennies and work their butts off for a long time to eventually buy it in cash. Then they “can afford it” just fine.

actually the Mademoseille in medium size appeals more to me than the pm size. I love it!!!!
