A Mix of Classic Bags and New Styles Were Seen On the Runway at Celine Winter 2021

Your first look at CELINE PARADE, the Women’s Winter 2021 collection

Last fall Hedi Slimane presented Celine’s spring 2021 collection, CELINE 08 MONACO, which was a playful ode to youth culture, designed to be chic yet wearable. Now we’ve got a look at the latest to come from Celine this year, CELINE PARADE, which is a continuation of what Slimane presented for spring, proving that his obsession with youth is here to stay.

There wasn’t much to be said in terms of show notes, though the collection as a whole is noted to be an “utopian parade and melancholic daydream of youth interrupted”. The rest is left up to us to interpret, leaving the viewer to put together the pieces of Slimane’s inspirations ourselves. And though it’s incredibly clear that Slimane continues to be inspired by the young, this collection also provides a bit of nostalgia with its oversized blazers and straight loose jeans.

As for the bags, a handful of classics were seen on the runway like the brand’s Triomphe Canvas Bags and the Triomphe Bag. Two new bags made their runway debut this season as well, one is slouchy and more relaxed while the second is more structured and sleek. Called the Romy and Tabou respectively, both bags are meant to be worn on the shoulder and are easy silhouettes that sit effortlessly among the brand’s RTW. View bags from the collection below.

Love the fortune cookie slouchy hobo

Manolos21

The leather on that bag looks so luscious!

I love it too! if only the shape worked with the things that I carry.

Loved the clothes and styling so much. New bags are ok, I quite like the top handle/croissant looking bag in picture 4.

This collection looks inspired by LV, Gucci,The Row and Chanel. I guess when designers get desperate they reach out to more successful design houses. ????

I love the slouchy hobo! The leather looks buttery, and the strap seems long enough to wear cross body. It is really rare to find a nice roomy hobo with a cross body strap OMG when are they available?

Tana

It is like the update version of The Row Sling Hobo bag.

Really like the coat/jackets….. pretty sure these tops are from Fashion Nova. O_o

Victoria

I like the little lock on the Tabou…or what I think is a lock. Chloe circa Phoebe Philo vibes…

Silmane has effectively ruined Celine. It was so ahead of its time and chic, emblematic of feminine beauty and empowerment under the direction of Philo. Now, it’s a has-been. These handbags are ugly, redundant and boring. Where is the edginess that Celine was known for? And that gray jacket with black trim and gold buttons, it looks such a blatant copy of Chanel. What a shame.

I love Celine, but these bags are awful and uninspired. I CAN NOT stand the logo and wish they would have gotten rid of it before this season.

It’s all very meh, the clothes, bags, and shoes all looks nice enough and well made, but it’s all stuff you can get literally anywhere else. There’s nothing “special”.

I’m quite alone in that in hindsight I absolutely hate the Phoebe Philo-era handbags at Celine. (There, I said it. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders, lol.) They haven’t stood the test of time for a reason. (That dumb robot face …) I feel a distinct sense of embarrassment when I see photos of myself carrying my mini luggage and giant phantom totes all over London. I thought I looked great. I did not. I wish I had bought a classic box bag and left the others on the store shelf. As for these, they’re a bit boring but fine. They probably won’t give anyone’s daughters second-havd embarrassment in ten years.

Dear Celine, please leave the grunge 90s back in the 90s. These clothes look very inexpensive. Mom jeans and cowboy boots with a wool blazer that an 80 year old Harvard professor would wear.. then some basket dress… literally a basket. As for the bags, the first Hobo one is the only one with some style to it but I can ALREADY see that leather being such high maintenance. Can it be rained on? Will it get stained easily? Thumbs down for me. I thought Celine was luxury, not ripped mom jeans.

Hedi

What is the model wearing in that last picture? A lampshade skirt? A basket skirt? I just can’t!!

Aspen

Really thought that was the LV rendezvous at first. Really sad. They’re also trying really hard to make that Ava bag happen huh.

Patsy

Lol I didn’t know these shots were taken from a show. It looks like random streetstyle.
