Everything in me is saying there are zero reasons to love a designer denim bag, but here I am, just a 30-something-year-old bag lover feeling drawn to the new Bottega Veneta Washed Indigo Denim bags. I constantly surprise myself because I find myself drawn to bags that simply don’t typically align with my style, but that’s the fun thing about bags: you can pick something totally unexpected. The fashion world has decided that denim bags are one of the latest trends, and we continue to see them for upcoming and current collections.

The early 2000s nostalgia movement continues to go strong, and that can be seen trickling down to bag designs as well. There was a time that denim bags were all the rage – including this collection from Louis Vuitton and many other coveted bags were released with denim versions as well. Bottega Veneta continues its dominance in the bag world, sticking to its favored designs but adding new materials and sizes, which has proven quite successful.

The Denim Takeover

The latest addition to a few beloved styles is an indigo-washed denim treatment offered on the Cassette, Brick Cassette, and Mini Arco Tote. These bags fit into the cool-girl aesthetic that reigns supreme right now (think oversized button-up shirt, little black sunglasses, mom jeans). Each of these bags features Intreccio washed denim which is made from 100% cotton. The thing to note about a denim bag is that it will show wear easily, so while cotton is an easy material, it’s far more susceptible to looking dirty on a bag.

I suppose in my head, I look more like that cool girl than I am in reality (I am currently sitting here writing this in an oversized shirt and what can only be described as slightly nicer than pajamas shorts). But if you also are feeling this denim movement, and trust me when I say it’s coming, there are three new Bottega Veneta bags you can choose from.

The price point is ok for denim…but I wonder how the structure will hold up with denim, how easily can it be stained (does scotchguard work on this), do they wear down like jeans? With all these questions I will let others find out.
