There has been a big moment for collaborations in the fashion space, from bags and watches to shoes and more. The newly announced Balenciaga x Manolo Blahnik partnership just joined the chat. Seeing the two names together feels unexpectedly refined and, honestly, kind of refreshing.
Launching today, May 19, the first shoes born from the Balenciaga | Manolo Blahnik collaboration arrive as part of Balenciaga’s Fall 2026 collection, Body and Being, under the direction of Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The collection introduces three shoe styles: a crystal-embellished slingback heel, a slingback kitten heel, and a mule, each rendered in silk satin with signature Manolo crystal detailing.
And yes, they are beautiful.
Balenciaga and Manolo Blahnik Make an Unexpectedly Elegant Pair
What makes this collaboration particularly interesting is how seamless it feels. These are not shoes screaming for attention in the way many designer collaborations tend to do now. Instead, they lean heavily into elegance and craftsmanship. The shapes are classic Manolo Blahnik; they’re sleek, feminine, and instantly recognizable, while still fitting naturally within Balenciaga’s current direction under Piccioli, which has become noticeably softer, more couture-driven, and focused on the human form.
Piccioli explained that the collaboration stemmed first and foremost from admiration, noting that Manolo Blahnik is “synonymous with elegance.” You can see that immediately in the final product. The crystal leaf embellishments drape softly across the shoes like jewelry, referencing archival Balenciaga bijoux from the 1960s while still feeling entirely wearable today.
And wearable is important here because these are the rare evening shoes that do not feel overly precious.
Yes, they would absolutely work with formalwear, black-tie dressing, or wedding-guest looks, but they also feel surprisingly versatile. I kept looking at the campaign imagery, imagining them paired with relaxed denim and an oversized blouse, which is probably the biggest compliment I can give a shoe, considering I am not really a shoe person. In fact, I liked these enough to write an entire post about them, which, honestly, says everything.
The lower-heeled options, especially, stand out. The 50mm slingback and mule feel practical without losing any of the glamour, and that balance is becoming increasingly important in luxury fashion right now. People still want fantasy and beauty, but they also want pieces they can realistically wear beyond one single event.
The Return of Refined Glamour
The collection arrives in black, gris plume, grass, lime, and violet silk satin, complete with co-branded packaging including dust bags, custom shoe boxes, and tissue liners. The shoes are available now at select Balenciaga boutiques worldwide and on Balenciaga.com.
More than anything, this collaboration feels like a reminder that sometimes luxury works best when it focuses less on shock value and more on refinement. These shoes are polished, feminine, and undeniably elegant, but they still feel modern. And in a market that often leans aggressively casual, that kind of dressed-up glamour suddenly feels very appealing again.

The shoes are nice but I don’t see what’s supposed to read as Balenciaga? Would’ve never guessed these were a collab.
I was immediately thinking of Cristobal Balenciaga seeing these. The article actually confirms this feeling >>Piccioli explained that the collaboration stemmed first and foremost from admiration, noting that Manolo Blahnik is “synonymous with elegance.” You can see that immediately in the final product. These satin shoes will look unattractively beat-up after a few wearings, and not every woman wants walk-of-shame satin in the daytime with jeans and a big white shirt. Some women like the sense of fashion ritual following old ideas of what to wear at certain times of day.
I would have done them in jeans fabric for daytime though the gris plume satin is truly beautiful.
