Lately I’m Obsessed With Accessorizing My Accessories

The cuter the better...

Handbags have always been my “thing”. They make me feel pretty even when I’m at my frumpiest and they continuously make me happy. I don’t foresee myself ever outgrowing my steadfast love for handbags, much to my bank account’s dismay. It’s rare that I stray away from shopping for my beloved bags, and while I definitely enjoy purchasing a cool pair of shoes or funky statement earrings, I’m just not as passionate about other facets of the fashion industry as I am about bags. I’ve recently surprised myself by picking up a new shopping habit, one that I’m shocked I haven’t adopted sooner…I’ve gone down the deep rabbit hole of accessorizing my handbags. It only makes sense that someone who takes accessorizing an outfit with the perfect bag as seriously as I do would also want to accessorize said bag, but this new obsession kicked in full force quite suddenly and unexpectedly. Luckily for me there is a big market out there to fill this void I didn’t even know I had in my wardrobe.

It all started one day when I fell head over heels in love with an absolutely perfect Hermès scarf. It didn’t occur to me that I could style a scarf with my bag because I have traditionally associated scarves as being worn exclusively around my neck, but a simple google search led me to the wonderful world of scarves on bags. Sometimes it takes just one image online to have a ripple effect on my style, which is exactly what happened in this case. I’ve seen scarves on bags here and there over the years, but after a deep dive on the PurseForum I swear I practically felt my heart grow a size larger to make space for the accessorized handbag look. Wrapped around a bag’s handles or tied in a pretty bow, a scarf can add a serious statement to the look of your bag and your overall style. Adding scarves to your purse opens the realm of endless possibility, with many prints and colors of scarves to choose from. I’m smitten with scarves designed with bold prints and bright colors to pair with my neutral bags to elevate my look. I gain a boost of confidence in my style game when I add a scarf to my bag, it makes me feel chic and poised.

It doesn’t just stop at scarves, although I will admit that is my favored bag accessory at the moment, but I have also been taken with purse charms. These cute little charms can make a big impact despite their tiny size. I love the playful and youthful look of a bag charm and I totally think of them as jewelry for my bags. I love switching out my charms every few days because a charm can match a lot in my closet, even my monogrammed and brighter colored bags. I am of the mindset that there is no difference between a bag charm and a key chain, and I personally think you can swap the two interchangeably. I recently used my Tory Burch key ring charger as a purse charm and thought it looked like it belonged perfectly on my cream colored bag. The charging feature was super functional too, which is always a bonus in my book. I can see my collection of bag charms growing exponentially over time and I’ve been having so much fun growing my purse accessory collection.
