Soon, we’ll be sharing that interview with you, but to give you some what of a teaser, enjoy Jalda’s Valentine’s Day answers below and definitely click here to see some of her amazing designs!

You love LA. What would be one of the best things to do in LA on Valentine’s Day? Find a secluded spot on a cliff overlooking the ocean somewhere near Malibu and have a picnic for hours…

What is your favorite part about Valentine’s Day? The Fact that it makes you think about celebrating love. It’s really something to appreciate. (more…)

Be Inthavong and Steve Dumain

When we first entered the crowded showroom back in November, we did not quite know what to expect. Our previous experiences of meeting new fashion designers had overall been pleasant ones, we did not think that meeting Steve Dumain and Be Inthavong of Be & D would be any different. Still, knowing the smashing success the two have had since 2004, one could not help but be intimidated just a bit.

Ignes Handbags

The co-founders (and brother sister duo) of Ignes divulged some of their Valentine’s Day plans:

If you were making Valentine’s Day dinner for your significant other, what would you make and why?
Maria: Mmm, we are both not so great cooks, yet chicken cordon bleu and roesti (swiss potatoes) is a favourite of my husband, I must try and remember how it was made.
Ignacio: I would make a barbecue and then strawberry cake for dessert, Chiara has a very sweet tooth!

Since you are brother and sister, do you make sure to always get one another a Valentine’s Day gift?
Maria: Not really, yet I do help him find something special for his wife, Chiara! She complains that she can’t always receive a handbag for Christmas, birthday, or Valentine’s, since these should arrive to her at different times (no occasion attached!) and she wants an extra effort in the selection when it’s a special occasion. I agree. (more…)

Linea Pelle Dylan BowlerCreative Director for Linea Pelle, Andrew Cotton, took some time to spread love with Purse Blog and all of our readers! Even better yet, after you enjoy reading Andrew’s answers keep reading to find out about an AMAZING deal going on over at Linea Pelle!

This Valentine’s Day, is there a certain bottle of wine you’d definitely like to have on the menu? Can’t go wrong with a vintage Dom… but a very, very, very dry Belvedere martini works just as beautifully to set a mood!

Since you get a chance to travel a lot, if you could pick any city in the world, which city would you spend Valentine’s Day in? Paris – one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Romantic in every way… Merci!

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day this year? Undecided as of now, but let me assure you I want to spread LOVE!!

What is the best Linea Pelle gift for Valentine’s Day? Why? Easy! A Dylan Bowler or any Dylan in our gorgeous cherry red, special for VDay – roomy, washed and supple Italian leather -what more could a girl want?! (Except maybe a real live Italian to carry it for her!) (more…)

Sang A Your favorite Valentine’s Day memory: My favorite memory is waking up next to my husband on our first Valentine’s Day after our wedding and realizing that I would be able to wake up next to my Valentine every year forward (So excited for you both, Meaghan and Vlad!).

Your favorite Valentine’s Day gift: My favorite gift was when my husband Jamie surprised me with an original song he wrote especially for me. Now I love seeing him give this same gift to our daughter, Olivia.

Worst Valentine’s Day: One year, Jamie asked if we could postpone Valentine’s Day. I would rather not celebrate at all than pretend another day is Valentine’s Day.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day this year: My girl, Olivia is very excited to go on a special date with her parents this Valentine’s Day. We’ve reserved the birdcage at Sweetiepie in the West Village. Olivia will absolutely love the whimsical menu and playful environment.

The best Sang A bag for a Valentine’s Day gift? I think my new card case in brilliant colors and beautiful, soft crocodile is the perfect gift this Valentine’s Day. It’s a recession-proof way to add a flash of luxury. Buy through Sang A.

Ben Harnett Interview

In November of last year, we had the opportunity to sit down with Ben Harnett of Hayden-Harnett. The young entrepreneur managed to impress us with a savvy business sense, he explained how his young company managed to grow from its establishment with his significant other, to being the globally-operating bag and accessory powerhouse it is today. Meaghan and I walked out of the interview quite intrigued, we can expect great things from this brand in the near future.

Sang A has made her designs known in the fashion world. Whether it be through word of mouth, celebrity sightings, TV sightings, or just being in the know, Sang A Bags have cultivated a strong following. Sang A bags are known for their exotic skins and stand-out designs. While in NYC last month, Vlad and I missed meeting with Sang A but were able to follow up with an interview last week.

The Koren born Sang A was making waves in the Korean entertainment and music scene and is now making waves in the US handbag design scene. Her designs are more well-known by the day. Some of my favorite designs by Sang A come in shapes that are not polluting the handbag market. Her River Tote is very well known and well liked, offering a square tote shape with hardware that stands out. Her pouch clutches are favorites of mine as well, easy to wear out and dress up for an event or pair with jeans. We shot a variety of Sang A bags in our studio to give you all a better look at the amazing work that goes into each bag and showcase the essence of the bags.

Not only did we nab an interview with the designer, take exclusive shots of the bags, but also we have a special discount code for all Purse Blog readers! There is already a 30% Holiday sale on the website, but our Purse Blog readers will receive an additional 10% off that reduced price when they enter code PBXMAS at checkout on SangA.com. The code will be kept up from today until Sunday, December 28th. If you order by the 19th, your order will make it in time for Christmas! An amazing 40% off Sang A bags means this is the perfect place to shop for exotic handbags for the holidays. Thank you to Sang A for setting up this code for you all and giving us the chance to interview her! Shop Sang A online and receive 40% off! (more…)

Not all of us have the fashionable intuition or stylist touch when it comes to putting together outfits. Going to the experts is always the way to go, but ends up being pricey. Luckily for you, we were able to ask eLUXURY.com’s stylist, Hayley Atkin, tips for the season. We brought you interviews from eLUXURY’s buyers, but getting tips from a stylist is the perfect guidance many of us need.

From cocktail party to meals with the in-laws, eLUXURY’s stylist Hayley put together a variety of looks which you can use when getting ready for specific events. Always bring in your own personal touch, but following some of the tips below will have you dressed impeccably. (more…)

We introduced you to eLUXURY’s contemporary buyer earlier, and now it is time for you to meet their Designer Buyer. Andrew Dershaw is Designer Buyer for eLUXURY.com, whose selection I frequent most often for Purse Blog posts. There indeed is someone behind the buying choices for the designer selection at eLUXURY.com and we got a chance to ask him some questions.

PB: For eLuxury, is there a certain profile of a customer you are looking to attract based on the handbags you offer?

As the Designer Buyer, for me it is more about acting as a filter for of our current and aspirational customers. I need to have a steady feel for current trends and demands, and act as a liaison between our customers and designers to ensure we are serving up the most fresh and must have bags that our customers just have to carry! Our Designer handbag customer’s all do share some commonalities though; they need the most luxurious fabrications, in the must-have styles, from the world’s top designers.

PB: What is big for this Fall/Winter?

For Fall we started to see what we are calling “the new luxury” emerge. This is more about individuality, quality, and expressing more of one’s personal style through their dress. As our socio-economic climate shifts, so does the way we shop. We are seeing less of a demand in our logo and iconic handbags, and much more of a need for bags with new and different embellishment and luxurious details. The Fendi Secret Code Bag and Dior 61 are great examples of this, as well as must haves for the season! (more…)

One of my favorite online boutiques to browse and shop is eLUXURY.com. Their selection is vast and the options are always on par for the season. But I rarely think about who is behind picking the handbags to show all of us season after season. If you wondered the same thing, wonder no more! We had a chance to get to know the Contemporary Buyer for eLUXURY.com, Jen Ely. Jen took some time out of her busy schedule to answer some of our questions.

PB: Who do you have in mind when buying bags for eLuxury?

I keep key trends of the season top of mind when it comes to Contemporary handbag selection for the site. Our customer is on the cutting edge of fashion and wants the latest and greatest to choose from every season. I focus on making my mix of brands, styles and colors as unique as possible so that customers know they can come to eluxury.com for both that exclusive, new, “IT” bag, as well as a staple, essential bag that they might not be able to find elsewhere. I keep in mind what bags have sold best from each brand in past seasons, as well as a creating a compelling mix of new designers and key existing designers. A great handbag is a perfect piece to invest in, and I want my customers to get excited when they find THE bag on eluxury.com, so I keep that in mind throughout the buying process! (more…)

We have another treat for you right before the Thanksgiving holiday. Only thing about this treat is that it will not hurt your waistline. We introduced you all to the dynamic duo behind Lambertson Truex last spring. Vlad and I took time to follow up with Richard Lambertson and John Truex earlier this month. The bags they design continue to ignite our handbag loving hearts and Vlad and I left NYC with a bag a piece and a pair of shoes from LT. The designs speak for themselves and the men are top notch. Always a pleasure to see Richard and John. Enjoy a look into what has been going on with Lambertson Truex since our last interview.

While we gave a sneak peak to the Minkettes on the forum already, it is time we formally introduce the Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2009 line. We had the pleasure to sit down with Rebecca two weeks ago to ask her your questions, find out more about what is to come, and see her hot new bags. Studs are seen on many of the bags, offering a rocker edge, which is the perfect touch for the gal with a little kick in her step. The colors are popping, the hardware is a mixture of old and new, and the wish lists for these bags are growing.
