Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York: BCBG Max Azria Fall 2011

This morning we kicked off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York by attending the BCBG Max Azria Fall 2011 show. Rather than overwhelming heavy layers, the collection felt light and airy fitting perfectly into fall’s aesthetic.

The dresses were both easy and feminine. The collection stuck to layers, showing almost every look with tissue thin white turtlenecks underneath. From the dresses we saw long flowy bottoms with plunging back and necklines. When color was added it was in clolorblocking and abstract geometric prints.

The collection flew down the runway effortlessly. There was almost a feel of spring but the deeply hued colors and layers reminded us that this line is meant for fall. When it came to the handbags we saw chic fold-over clutches and compact structured messenger bags. Both of these designs work well with the layered look, ending with an almost boho vibe. Overall the BCBG Max Azria Fall 2011 collection is both simple and wearable, which is what most of us look for in a line.
