A few months ago, Dior announced that Rihanna would be the brand’s newest face, and the brand’s first black campaign star of all time. Yesterday, the first images from the pop superstar’s campaign hit the Internet, and they’re gorgeous.
Rihanna’s campaign is for the new Christian Dior Diorama Bag, and the images, shot by Steven Klein, are centered around a secret garden theme. Rihanna looks incredible, as always.
There’s little in the way of details or high-resolution images yet, but take a look at what we’ve seen floating around on Twitter so far, below.
She looks absolutely stunning! I am glad another major fashion house (Burberry) has featured a non-white model.

I agree: great to see a non-white model featured in major luxury house. However I wish the designers would try some non celebs (irrespective of race). Dynamic, energetic, educated women who are making a difference.

I am completely over the overly exposed and overrated Beyoncé and Rihanna.
Rihanna doesn’t have the class to represent Dior. It seems that fashion is obsessed with these trashy women as of late. It’s wonderful that a woman of color was used but there are so many WOC that could have done more justice to this brand.

Why Rihanna? I love her song, loved her in attendance at the cruise show and she looks good carrying Dior but in my opinion she does not have the Dior DNA. This is mimicking the shock value of Galliano. But even John knows that beneath the gloss of advertising, and the not so irreverent clothes that the Dior lady must remain intact. He despite what others have labelled a falling clearly understood the caricature that is Dior. Who would I love then? Thinking like Galliano, why not Joy Bryant, clearly not an unknown but not so exposed as to still retain that allure.
They have the same bigger Diorama in silver at the Dior store in SoHo, it is pure perfection. Rihanna looks amazing!
