The April issue of Vogue magazine features Jennifer Lopez on the cover and has a spread with Kate Moss inside. Much of the issue focuses on the glory and glamour of the storied Ritz Paris, which is having its doors closed down for renovation. Kate Moss took to the Ritz Paris to pose in haute couture one last time before the immaculate renovation takes place.

My favorite image by far is Kate coyly lounging in an amazing suite surrounded by a vast amount of Chanel boxes and shopping bags. This photo is helping me get through the mid-week hump, isn’t it lovely?

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to know how things work and fit together. I used to take apart and reassemble all my toys, day after day, with endless curiosity. The handbags during the Chanel runway shows can be totally hit or miss – sometimes Uncle Karl equips his models with hardly any bags, sometimes they’re crazy-literal like spring’s sea shells, sometimes they’re just the same ol’ Chanel that we’re all used to. In the case of shows like Chanel Fall 2012, though, the bags get better and better as the show progresses and remind you why Chanel sells bags hand over fist in the first place. And if you’re a Boy Chanel fan, then boy, do I have a treat for you.

For Chanel, Fall 2012 is all about gemstones in their raw state. Perhaps predictably, that lead to lots of handbags in rich jewel tones, the best of which were the Boy Chanels finished in plush velvet. I’ve always been a fan of the Boy line, but after seeing the shape in vibrant purple and yellow, how much I’d like to make a Boy bag mine cannot be overstated. I need one, you guys. Fashion critics may have loved Chanel’s seafaring Spring 2012 runway collection, complete with literal seashell clutches, but future handbag customers were a little more hesitant. After all, when the inspiration is that literal, exactly what are the non-runway accessories going to look like? As it turns out, they look like an utterly gorgeous collection of bags in powdery pastels, faithful to the Chanel DNA but somehow with a lighter, fresher touch.

One of our Twitter followers alerted us that Chanel had made these images of Chanel’s Spring 2012 Handbags available on their website yesterday, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with what I found when I went to investigate. The collection is heavy on the excellent Boy Chanel shapes, which bring the flap bag construction to a younger, less ladylike audience. I’m normally a fan of all the products of Karl Lagerfeld’s acute insanity, but I’m not sure how I feel about My New Friend “Boy”, the new short film (read: commercial) that Lagerfeld directed, starring Alice Dellal (little sister of Charlotte Olympia designer Charlotte Dellal) and Chanel‘s new Boy Chanel bag line. Does Instagram have a new video app that I don’t know about?

I’m not sure that Dellal is much of an actress, and stomping around a mansion with a beautiful handbag just a little too far out of frame for it to be properly seen doesn’t do much to make me interested in the bag, even though I adore the Boy Chanel line. If Lagerfeld had dialed back the vintage filtering just a bit, I think the video (and its audience) would have benefited immensely, but I’ll reserve final judgment until the still shots emerge; Chanel’s have been beautiful recently. Vlad and I took a moment out of Fashion Week madness to stop by one of our favorite cafes and get a delicious hot chocolate together for Valentine’s Day. The majority of our day was spent attending fashion shows with some talented designers, including Tory Burch and Oscar de la Renta, but we wanted to make sure to take a moment out of the madness for ourselves.

As much as I know that Valentine’s Day is blown out of proportion, I am a true romantic so I find myself a bit in love with this holiday. I’d like nothing more than to spend Valentine’s Day with my hubby and then be presented with a small arsenal of whimsical Chanel accessories. I’m so excited that I don’t even know where to begin, so let’s just say that there’s a real treat waiting for you guys after the jump. We’ve received images from Chanel of a few of the bags from Chanel Metiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2012, and they are gorgeous. Most of the intricately adorned bags play on the Boy Chanel theme, and the results are a bit tougher than the Chanel that some of you might be used to.
