Céline only recently completed its online lookbook for its Resort 2016 bags (which Céline refers to as Spring 2016 because it uses the four calendar seasons instead of fashion industry jargon), and now we’ve already got something new to look forward to. Céline’s Summer 2016 bags (which are a Spring 2016 collection, by the fashion calendar) hit the Internet earlier this week, and it’s the strongest lineup we’ve seen from the brand in years.

For a couple seasons, Céline tried to get really cute with its seasonal handbags. There were a lot of ideas and concepts, but relatively little in the way of crowd-pleasing consumer product. Céline had earned the luxury of experimentation on the strength of its still-very-popular Luggage Totes and Trapeze Bags, but at some point, a brand has to start thinking of what’s next, business-wise.

While I don’t think there are any potential It Bags in this group (mostly because the style debuts are a handful of conceptual runway pieces), it’s an very solid lineup. For Summer 2016, Céline’s most popular styles will get a slew of new colors and textures, including expanded use of a leather the brand refers to as “supersoft calf,” which hits at a higher price point than most of the Céline’s regular leathers but sounds absolutely divine.

Céline’s also providing more price information for its bags than ever before; although it’s not telling us how much crocodile will cost, it revealed prices for all its other exotics.
