The 10 Best Celebrity Bag Looks of Summer 2015

As we careen toward the end of summer, it’s once again time to gather ’round in our cut-off jean shorts and semi-sheer tanks and reexamine some of the best bag looks of the season. We had strong showings from brands like Givenchy, Fendi and Saint Laurent, which should come as a surprise to no one.

More surprising: after several seasons without a true It Bag, Chloé finally fought its way back on top with not one, but two extremely hot new styles. As always, I’m sure you’ll let us know if you think we missed anything.

They say you can’t reinvent the wheel, but Givenchy is doing a fantastic job of reinventing several of its signature styles. This Givenchy Pandora Pure Bag is a restyled, less boxy version of the incredibly popular Pandora, and Queen Bey is already a fan.

Chrissy Teigen
Saint Laurent Anita Fringe Bag
$1,490 via Barneys

This Chrissy Teigen look is sheer summer perfection, but I feel obligated to tell you that Ms. Teigen endured a few hours at the hands of professional hair and make-up stylists to achieve this level of “effortless” glamour. (I know because I follow her on Instagram.) That sumptuous black leather Saint Laurent Anita Fringe Bag, however, looked exactly that gorgeous right out of the dust bag.

Jennifer Garner
Prada Top Handle Briefcase
Shop Prada via Bergdorf Goodman

Celebs loved this Prada briefcase in all of its iterations, and I suppose handbag enthusiasts loved it too, because it seems to be completely out of stock at all of our preferred retailers. We are, of course, your best blog source for restock notifications.

Kylie Jenner
Givenchy Pandora Box Mini Bag
$1,995 via SSENSE

This adorable Pandora mini is super popular with celebs like Kylie Jenner. As I review Givenchy’s summer bags, it occurs to me that the brand is simply taking their signature bags and making them softer, curvier, and a tad more feminine. The result: beautiful new handbags, but beautiful new handbags that are perhaps less recognizably Givenchy.

Olivia Palermo
Fendi Peekaboo Mini Bag
$3,100 via Nordstrom

This is actually my least favorite handbag on the list, and it’s also the least amount of handbag for your money per square inch. But it still bum-rushed its way into the limelight nonetheless. Add on a custom Fendi bag strap like Olivia’s and a single Fendi Bag Bug, and you’ll be $5K deep in Fendi. And yet, you’ll still barely have enough room for your smartphone and 2-3 personal effects.

Rihanna
Christian Dior Diorama Bag

“The Many Dior Dioramas of Rihanna” is actually something we could conceivably throw together in a few months’ time. I’m partial to this floral edition, but Rihanna was also especially fond of her pale pink Dior Diorama as well. If you’re thinking, “That looks a lot like the Chanel Boy Bag!”, you’re not wrong. Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the two.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Chloé Faye Bag
$3,800 via Net-a-Porter

The Chloé Faye and the Chloé Drew were both immensely popular with celebrities this summer. At some point, I started to notice that celebs over 25 almost uniformly seem to prefer the Faye, and celebs under 25 cling to the Drew.

Salma Hayek
Saint Laurent High School Shoulder Bag
$2,350 via Barneys

The High School”is a brand new style from Saint Laurent. I prefer this bag to most like it on the market because it’s much more inconspicuous, but those who love the flash of Chanel or Dior might find this a tad boring and redundant.

Sara Sampaio
Chloé Drew Bag
$1,850 via Saks

I suspect that the “under 25” celeb set likes the Drew because it’s a bit slight, svelte and whimsical, and the “over 25” celeb set likes the Faye because it’s a more bold, sophisticated bag with serious hardware.

Taraji P. Henson
Edie Parker Jean Clutch
$1,195 via Neiman Marcus

Here’s a bag that celebs of every age can agree on: the Edie Parker clutch. It comes in a wide variety of fun shapes, stripes, and colors, and it’s totally customizable. Red carpets were practically littered with Edie Parker clutches all summer long.
