I was fortunate enough to travel to Singapore this month and like any Crazy Rich Asians fan, I made sure to check out Gardens by the Bay. While the entire garden was a masterpiece, the Flower Dome was next level awesome for me. My grandmother had the most beautiful garden when I was growing up, and many of my formative years were spent in her backyard having tea parties next to her hydrangeas and peonies. Florals have held a special place in my heart from a young age, and I was so excited to check out the Flower Dome (it didn’t disappoint!).  While I didn’t see Nick Young or Rachel Chu there, I did see hundreds of beautiful flowers that really pushed a floral bag to the very top of my wish list. Since spring is coming, at least I hope it is, it only seems an appropriate time for me to spiral into a floral bag search.

I always welcome spring like an old friend, readily happy to greet it year after year. Flowers are my favorite part of spring, both in nature and in fashion. In the past, I have traditionally stayed within the realm of dresses and scarves with my floral collection and I’m embarrassed to admit how many floral dresses I own; the number surpasses the number of bags I own by a longshot. What can I say? I’m a collector by nature. I love the cheery disposition of a nice floral print and something about flowers make me feel so feminine and pretty when I wear them. With a robust selection this season combined with my love of this print, it only seems natural to add one to my bag collection.

My wardrobe has proven to be committed to floral prints, so I know my love won’t be fading any time soon. A bag that will always be the one that got away from me is the Balenciaga Floral Giant City bag. Sad story: I once saw that bag in Saks Off Fifth for $450 and I passed it over…years later and I am still kicking myself! That bag will haunt me until my dying days. The only thing preventing me from buying one of these bags immediately is it’s so hard to pick just one! How’s a girl supposed to choose between small flower prints, large bloomy prints, and appliques? I think I’m leaning towards the larger bloom prints, but the jury is still out. The tricky thing about florals is they are either done very well and are super covet-worthy or they fall short and just look busy and tacky. A fine balance to strike, I think many bags are doing it right this season and are proving that florals, while a total statement, can be refined and sophisticated.

Below are some of my top favorites that are available right now! Maybe if I buy a floral bag, spring will come early?

H*ll no to each of these bags. They look either like wall paper or a sub-par watercolor art project.

I always loved the Gucci floral patterns. Feminine and elegant but pairing it with that shocking pink kills it.

The Dionysus was cute, I’d wear that to some silly type of cowboy masquarade bbq party! Someone, please invite me to something like that so that I have an excuse to buy that bag! Haha! 😀

The Ted Baker is beautiful and reasonably priced. The Oscar de la Renta (photo 5) pink bag is a stunner. The Gucci in photo 6 is pretty, but as I recall, that canvas isn’t coated so it will be very hard to keep clean. The two Fendi bags are just…no.
