A Melissa x Telfar Collab is Coming

Playfully dubbed Telly Jelly

Cult favorite brand Telfar gained popularity due to its no-fuss, accessible approach towards fashion, and all the while, its beloved logo shopping tote became a must-have for fashionistas in the know. The brand shows no signs of slowing down, expanding its offerings and categories. The Telfar Shopping Bag is arguably one of the most talked about (and highly coveted) bags of the 2020s.

The Rise of the Bushwick Birking

The popularity of Telfar’s famous shopping bag has grown exponentially in the last few years, stemming from its relaunch in 2017 following designer Telfar Clemens’ awarding of the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Lovingly dubbed the Bushwick Birkin, the Telfar Shopping Tote has become a staple of a new generation of savvy bag lovers.

In 2020, Clemens won the CFDA American Accessories Designer of the Year award, and his brand continues to grow, with new colorways and limited-edition iterations of the classic Shopping Tote dropping seasonally. The simple design of the shopping tote makes for the perfect blank canvas of sorts, and Telfar is no stranger to collaborations, having released branded Shopping Totes with the likes of Ugg and Moose Knuckles. The brand’s latest partnership is not to be missed, and it will have 90s kids going nuts.

Introducing Telfar x Melissa Telly Jelly

Next up, Telfar links up with Brazilian brand Melissa Shoes, which has been making Jelly footwear since 1979. Every pair of Melissa shoes offers that pang of sweet nostalgia from the early aughts, and today, each pair is not only vegan but 100% recyclable. The band is also no stranger to the art of collaboration, having launched its very first collab with Jean-Paul Gaultier back in 1983.

The two brands join forces this summer on its Telly Jelly capsule collection. It is the partnership we never knew we needed, equal parts nostalgic and modern. The mini collection will feature clear shopping totes in all three sizes—small (which is really more like mini), medium, and large, plus a pair of T-logoed jelly slides. Prices range from $100 for the slides to $250 for the large shopper.

Items from the collab will be final sale, and if you’re interested in snagging one, set your alarms now; the pieces are sure to fly! The collection launches via Telfar.net, this Friday, July 14th at 12 PM ET and will also be stocked via shopmelissa.com beginning July 17th.

How many centuries will it take for this plastic bag to disintegrate and stop being a pollutant? It’s irresponsible to buy an item at that price-point so obviously bad for the environment.

Must have something from this collab!

No closure, though, not even a snap like the regular shoppers. Too easy for pickpockets in big concert crowds to access.
