If you’ve been trying to find a less-expensive alternative to Chanel’s puffy, quilted Coco Cocoon bags recently, well, you’re in luck. The MZ Wallace Sutton Nylon Satchel may not be made out of natural materials, but it certainly owes a design debt to the famed Parisian label.

For me, the real question is why anyone would want to replicate the look of those particular Chanel bags. They’re lumpy, misshapen and not at all sleek, in addition to being wildly expensive. If you see something in them that I don’t, this satchel is a good way to achieve the look without spending so much money on something that looks like a gym bag.

Come to think of it, if you were in the market for an expensive gym bag, this satchel would make a pretty good one. Maybe that’s the perspective I should be taking with the Coco Cocoon line. Buy through Nordstrom for $245.

Even with a great price point, I am not loving (or liking) this bag. It has nothing much to recommend it. (ipad)

reminds me of a diaper bag more than a gym bag… not really liking it (ipad)

Completely agree with your points here, better price but a cocoon bag is still just puffy no matter the maker. (ipad)

Never really liked the Coco Cocoon line, but looking at this bag I think it looks even better than the original Chanel one, may be because it’s less puffy, or may be because the quilting is smaller…(ipad)

This looks like an over-sized laptop case. If this owes a style debt to Chanel, Chanel owes a style debt to Wal*Mart and Target circa ten years ago. (ipad)

This being a fairly large nylon bag, I’d have to see it “fully loaded” to find out if it was too slouchy when carried. (ipad)

For some reason, I too like it better than the Chanel version. It does look less puffy (in a good way) and the red is a perfect little pop of color. Definitely a great gym bag! (ipad)

I think a better puffy thing is the Kate Spade puffy thing with the bow (ipad)

I like it, but I think I’d like it more in a better material. (ipad)

I love MZ Wallace but these are not my thing. I think they were trying to emphasize that they are smoohsy and packable. In some of the photos they are rolle dup.

I’m with Karin, I’ve never been a fan of the quilted look regardless of the designer…(ipad)
