Even though we love designer bags (obviously), we’re all big believers in the idea that shoppers don’t need to spend four figures (or anywhere near it) in order to get a beautiful, well-made, expensive-looking bag that will serve them well for the season and beyond. The evidence on which we’ve based that belief is all around us: now’s a great time to be in the market for a handbag that hits in the mid-three-figures or less.
Not only have stalwart contemporary brands like Coach, Marc Jacobs and MICHAEL Michael Kors all elevated their offerings in the past year, but the market is full of smaller brands–some of them very new and helmed by young, innovative designers–which have found a come with contemporary consumers who’ve long been neglected when it comes to sophisticated accessories.
We’ve included the best Pre-Fall 2016 picks from both types of brands below, and here’s the best news: all of the bags are available to shop immediately.
Oh, I like that wine color Alexander Wang Mini Rockie. I wanted to buy a Mini Rockie some months ago, but then I saw that it’s made in China and became turned off to it.

I know what you mean about made in China! I get turned off too! But I think many of these lower priced items have to be made in China. Rebecca minkoff is made in China. I think Michael kors etc may be made in China too. Only Mansur is not made in China. I love the mini rockie. I think I like it so much I don’t care if it is made in China. Just bidding my time to make the purchase!
Actually, many luxury bags are made in China too…just assembled in Italy which allows them to put the “Made in Italy” tag on them. There is nothing bad about China, in fact they have very skilled artisans that rival that of Italy. Its just an unfortunate stigma everyone has against them bc its “China”. To be honest, their quality and craftsmanship is somewhat better in someways. Also their labor cost has gone $$$ so you cant really knock China anymore as they are getting costly now to manufacture there.
The Michael Kors and Vince Camuto ones surprisingly look good.
A lot of these bags are really nice. Thanks!
