I’m taking this time at home to not only keep myself and my family safe, but also to rethink things around the house. As my job focuses on designer bags, I of course have amassed a fairly sizable collection over the years. In an effort to “shop my closet” and rediscover bags that I own from years past, I’ll be sharing one bag a day from my own collection.
I’m kicking off this series with my Louis Vuitton Watercolor Aquarelle Speedy 35. I bought this bag in 2008 after placing myself on the waitlist and wondering if my bag dreams would be answered. I remember the excitement I shared with others on our forums, wishing and hoping for this bag to be mine. I got the call that one arrived for me while I was on a trip to Spain, but Vlad was still in Florida and popped down to the Louis Vuitton Bal Harbour boutique to pick up this beauty. It was my first limited edition bag, and while it’s a bag I don’t use often, I can’t imagine parting with.
This bag brings me great happiness, reminds me of my early days blogging and is aesthetically one of the prettiest bags I own. Its classic Speedy shape features white canvas with the LV watercolor monogram on top. The size 35 Speedy loses its shape easily, but there are bag shapers if you are inclined (which I’ve been meaning to purchase and use myself). Because of the light materials, I worry about color transfer so this bag has more life on the shelf than others in my collection.
This bag was part of a collaboration with Richard Prince and was highly coveted at the time. You can find one on a resale site, though I don’t see many listed at the moment. Check Fashionphile if interested!
