The Prada Mariner Bucket Bag Puts a Quintessential Summer Spin on a Classic House Fabric

With distinct nods to the brand's iconic heritage. In Collaboration with Prada.

Prada Re Nylon Mariner Bucket Bag V2 5

Nearly every luxury brand has iconic handbag styles that immediately come to mind, and for Prada, that includes their signature nylon bags. This season, the Prada Mariner Bucket Bag joins this family, offering a fresh take on a classic. Seamlessly melding the timeless fabric’s modern utilitarianism with summer charm.

Prada Nylon’s ubiquity transcends its stylistic appeal—a perfect expression of fashion-meets-function, the newest addition to the House offers everything you know and love about Prada Nylon with a seasonal spin.

Ready for adventure or wherever summer is set to take you, the Prada Mariner Bucket Bag is the ideal complement to your wardrobe.

Re-Nylon Sees a Seasonal Touch

Debuting on the runway at Prada’s Spring/Summer 2025 show, the bag features clear nods to the sailing world, which ties back to the House’s heritage and brand DNA.

The bag’s body is crafted from sustainable Re-Nylon, which is made entirely from regenerated nylon. The process recycles and purifies plastic collected from oceans, fishing nets, and landfills, breathing new life into discarded items that would otherwise pollute the earth. Furthering its sustainability efforts, Prada continues to donate 1% of proceeds from the Prada Re-Nylon for SEA BEYOND collection to SEA BEYOND.

Another connection to the sea is the bag’s rope handles, which add a hint of nautical charm while honoring Prada’s history. If you look closely at the brand’s logo, which is used on dustbags, boxes, shopping bags, and more, you’ll notice the distinct roping that ties the logo together.

The Prada Mariner Bucket Bag plays on that heritage with its distinct rope straps. Finished with leather handles that offer an elevated appeal, the straps are looped through large eyelets that also tie back to the bag’s nautical roots, referencing the eyelets used on sailboats.

The Prada Mariner Small Bucket Bag offers an ideal interior space, perfect for summer days at sea or evenings spent waterside with a cocktail in hand. Its open interior is finished with a zippered pocket to keep smaller items secure and within reach—this is the bag that speaks to me most.

If you’re looking for a larger option, the Prada Mariner Shoulder bag offers ample interior space and could even fit a beach towel or a change of clothes for a day out and about.

Summer in Prada

Furthering the summer-ready feel of the Prada Mariner offerings is the Prada Mariner Small Bucket Bag in striped fabric. The stripes clearly reference the nautical theme present throughout, further accented by the bag’s espadrille-style base.

Season after season, Prada has mastered the art of summer styling—from raffia to crochet—and the Mariner bags carry that same effortless, endless-summer appeal in a way few others achieve.

To complete your warm-weather wardrobe, Prada’s latest ready-to-wear and accessories drop just in time for the season. Whether it’s a floral-printed silk georgette dress perfect for garden parties, delicately embroidered cottons that capture the allure of summer, or lightweight poplins perfect for layering over a swimsuit, there’s a look for every mood.

Whatever suits your summer adventure, Prada has you covered.

The price of these bags (although not listed in the article) is prohibitive. Hard to justify for nylon bags. I will pass.

Sandy

You are right, designer bag prices are ridiculous to be sure. I can say if you are going to invest Prada nylon is extremely durable, it will look like new for years.

KlaraP

I love love the Navy bucket in the title picture on its website but stopped at the thought of being silly paying that price… I do say though Prada Nylon has a silk-like vibe from the look of it… I had a Tessuto Wristlet with silk lining, the material felt substantial. I’d venture to say not all nylon materials are created equal.

Kaite

Prada nylon is no different than other nylon bags… nylon is cheap to manufacture (it’s basically a type of plastic / polymer), which makes it horrible for the environment. It’s “extremely durable” because like most plastic products, it takes decades, if not centuries to decompose.

Passerine

Yes, especially when I consider that I just bought a new Longchamp Pliage bag (large size, longer handles, classic navy color) for about $150.

Susan

Exactly. It costs $5 to make. It’s so cheap.

Pip

They need to bring in some quick revenue to recoup what they spent on acquiring Versace.

ABF

The mariner bags are badly designed…. With an espadrille base they could never work on a boat for example and not sure how they can work as a beach bag… once the base gets wet, the bag is destroyed…whoever designed this bag did not think at all about how it might be used….

Sarah

Love these, Prada nylon got me started in it all!

Lisa

IMO these look terrible. Definitely a hard pass for me.

Elizabetty

I like the red striped one, so fun for summer!

All of these bags are designed only for shoulder and hand carry, wish they have crossbody designs as well, need my hands free

SMC422

I think given the rope strap is all one piece, couldn’t you slide it into being single-strapped and crossbody kind of like the BV Andiamo?

Loreleii

I was thinking the same thing! The straps are not independent of each other, it feels like if you pull one side all the way up, you would have enough length.
