Introducing the Louis Vuitton Cannes Bag

This new Fall 2018 style is already a huge hit among the shoppers on our PurseForum

Five years after Mansur Gavriel revitalized the style in the eyes of shoppers, there is apparently no stopping the bucket bag’s popularity. In that half decade, brands at all price points have turned out buckets in every size, shape and structural configuration you could think of, with new options debuting every season. Lately, a more structured version has become fashionable, with straight sides that lead either to an open top or a zippered full closure, which provides a more tailored look than drawstring versions. The latest entrant in that category is the Louis Vuitton Cannes Bag, which is brand new for Fall 2018 and available now.

We first spotted the Cannes on the brand’s Paris runway in March, and its relatively petite proportions and simple structure have made it a quick favorite in our PurseForum’s Louis Vuitton section. The cylindrical bag is 6″ wide at its largest point and 7″ tall, with no interior pockets and a dark brown textile lining. That’s pretty small, but because the bag is as deep as it is wide and very open on the inside, it gives you a lot of options for how to arrange your things, and bags with significant depth generally hold more than you think they will.

The bag comes with a top handle, as well as a crossbody shoulder strap that can be completely removed. The petite size and hand-carry option makes this bag a good candidate for nighttime carry, in addition to more casual daytime use, as long as the event isn’t too formal.

Right now, the Cannes Bag comes in two options: an Epi Leather version that’s priced at $2,600 and available in both black and pale yellow, and the slightly less expensive Monogram Inverse version, which is $2,340. By the looks of it, their popularity isn’t limited to our forum members—all of the versions currently listed on Louis Vuitton’s website are sold out online, so you’ll have to try your best with your local boutique.

This would be so not practical for me.

Kenzie

High-class lunch box.

Sparky

Yeah looks like a thermos carrier. Also looks REALLY annoying to unzip. I can’t believe the price. Over $2000?

Winnie

Love it but I’ve learned that round bags fit nothing.

KO0926

I don’t find anything appealing about it….

The logo one is cute, but completely impractical, won’t fit necessities, like larger iPhones, makeup, keys, money/cards and for the price, get a much larger Neverfull. Plus opening and closing would be a huge hassle. This bag is definitely not about utility, maybe iconography. Get the reference? ?

Thank you. I was wondering about it’s functionality

Wow, I stand corrected. Hard to tell the scale of the bag until you showed it with your items. Thanks for sharing!

but for someone like me who’s MM Neverfulls are always full, it wouldn’t work 🙁 Really cute bag though.

I own this bag and it’s much bigger and useful than most mini bags out there. My iphone 7+ fits, so does a mini pochette, Victorine wallet and keys. It is a bit annoying to open when hanging on you.
But compared to a few mini bags I own, this is by far the most useful.

Daria

looks like something you shit in

MsPit

aren’t you classy….

zaflor

This is hilarious! It’s a no go for me too.

A soup can cozie

psny15

this is corny but kinda fun!

Pam

Hideous and not practical. I rather buy something else from GUCCI.
Oh plus silly price too. Big NO!!

I love love love it! I have a Petite Malle, the older smaller version in black epi but I never carry it cos it’s just so impractical and the epi leather on the rigid structure doesn’t work as it gets scratched SO easily. This bag looks much more practical and I love the cute shape. I’ve told my SA to find me one in the inverse mono.

Turner Martin

I have a red Epi from the 90’s, looks almost the same. My friends always
call it the lunch bag!

Peety

I love the so called “banana” one… Lol. Is it light yellow or cream White? Hard Times reklam from pictures!

Peety

Hard to tell from pictures*. Sorry, my Swedish autocorrect decided to mess with me!

Looks like it should be called the ‘can’ bag. I personally like the zip top lid traincase look but they are highly impractical. Try find your metro card in that thing when your trying to make the A train.
