Introduced in 2016 by creative director Jonathon Anderson, the innovative, casual, cool Hammock bag is one of the handbag world’s most distinct and interesting shapes. In a world of revivals and vintage-inspired bags, its unique silhouette is entirely different.
True to its name, the handcrafted Hammock bag takes its shape from the construction of a Hammock, designed to fold and contort its shape. The Hammock has remained a beloved staple in the Loewe line-up year after year, with Jonathan Anderson continuing to revive it.
The Shape-Shifting Intrigue of the Loewe Hammock Bag
Not only have the last few years seen limited-edition iterations like those designed in collaboration with Howl’s Moving Castle and Suna Fujita, but the Hammock has also seen many versions, like the Hammock Nugget, Compact Hammock, and, most recently, the new Hammock Slice.

The Loewe Hammock is truly one of the handbag world’s most uniquely shaped bags, with the ability to quickly morph itself into several different shapes. Not only that but the bag’s construction and craft are a perfect example of Jonathan Anderson’s continued commitment to Loewe’s artisanal roots, just as the brand’s cornerstone designs do, like the Puzzle and the Flamenco.
Still, it still seems to fly more under the radar, despite its interesting lines begging for a second look. While the Hammock bag falls in a league of its own entirely, blurring the lines between a hobo, bucket and crossbody bag, as the former shapes continue to trend, the Hammock is ready to shine.
I absolutely love my Hammock—the design and leather combination are stunning.
The only downside for me is the handle positioning; it feels a bit awkward to carry by hand.
I have this bag in off white and I love it. It is gorgeous and is a compliment magnet. I’ve had mine since February 2020 and somehow have managed to avoid color transfer. I now live in Fl0rida and this is my go to bag for outdoor lunch events and Mothers Day brunch.
It’s so unique and different – it’s not talked about enough!!! I think I’m adding it to my 2025 want list.
Another vote for the Hammock! This bag is so easy to wear and work flawlessly with day-to-day errands, I love it even more than the puzzle. Also, a bag design that’s hard to understand if you just see it from afar until you use it yourself and realized how brilliant the design is.
It molds to the hip when being worn crossbody, strap is slightly thicker and a tad wider than what the small puzzle has and doesn’t slip off the shoulder, strap can be adjusted as a shoulder hobo bag, fits bigger items as it acts like a open tote, and has a side zip pocket that’s so handy for keys/ airpods. Can’t sing enough praises to it!
It is such a versatile and original bag that I don’t understand why it hasn’t been more successful. And it is in Japan and Korea where it is sold the most.
My husband just bought me the small puzzle bag, and it’s beautiful, but now I’m thinking about this one too. It’s such an interesting design. I don’t even remember seeing it at the Loewe store, but I was focused on the puzzle bag because I’ve been wanting it for so long.
I have two and I love mine. Actually the puzzle caught my eyes first, but I was reluctant to get it. Kept on reading reviews and checking it out at the store. But when the hammock came, I just jumped in. And I seriously love them.
LOVE it, first time seeing it at Kdrama, and i fall in love with Hammock untill now
Own it in navy. Absolutely love it. Perfect for day errands and easily transitions to relaxed evening bag and travels well (minus the wide opening)
Really love this Hommack bag. I can use it as body bag, shoulder bag, hand bag…
