If you’ve ever looked at the Saint Laurent Sac de Jour and thought, “Ya know what? I want that, but soft,” then I have some good news for you: “that, but soft” now exists. For Spring 2017, the brand is debuting a bag that Bergdorf Goodman calls the Saint Laurent Supple Sac de Jour. It’s unclear if that’s the bag’s official designation since it doesn’t appear on the YSL website just yet.
Bergdorf Goodman doesn’t list dimensions for this bag, but on-model comparisons make it look notably larger than the popular small size, and YSL appears to have removed the medium, the bag’s largest version, from its website. Just from eyeballing it, this bag looks similar to the medium, but with a shoulder strap and a softer structure that will give it some nice slouch when carried by that strap. The medium always looked a little too big to be an arm-only bag and its size already tended a bit more toward slouchiness than the smaller versions, so this seems like a logical next step for the larger end of the SDJ line.
The bag appears to be made of double-sided leather instead of lined in a different material, which should help lighten up such a large bag. the Supple SDJ maintains the zippered middle compartment that most sizes of the bag have, but it appears to lack other interior compartments. On the outside, the biggest changes are the exposed pegs that hold the gusset belts in place at the front top corners.
If the bag is calling your name, it can be yours for $3,350 via Bergdorf Goodman.
I don’t mean to be rude but just giving my opinion based on first glance. This bag does not look nice. The regular version looks waaaaaay better.
I like this soooo much!!! But I always prefer a softer leather and a little slouch…
i dont like slouchy bags so this is a No for me
Unfortunately, some of these bags start looking like this as they age, which is why I’ve never been tempted to purchase one. This slouchy version looks like a mistake, like its owner didn’t stuff it with paper and store it properly.
I have thought about purchasing a SDJ many times in the past but never pulled the trigger. This version will not entice me at all. The structured version is more my style.
I hated it when it came out, now I finally bit the bullet and got a small in grey 30% off – l also like the structure and Megs was going on an on about the pink vs blue… let’s see if I like it when it arrives
It looks a little boring, honestly. hmmm. I’ll need to see it in action.
Love slouchy bags, so I think this looks MUCH better! Structured bags are just not for me so I’ve never considered the SDJ, but now I guess I should add it to my list (; Different strokes for different folks of course!
It just looks like an old, beaten up SDJ…. a huge pass.
I never liked the Sac de Jour — too square and briefcase like for my taste. This variation is better but still not wowing me though it does look like a bag that while boring will not become dated too quickly.
I’ve always thought those Birkin comparisons were a bit unfair but I see that now it finally does look more like one!
It reminds me a lot of the Coach Rogue or whatever its called. I like it, but I don’t feel compelled to buy it
I’m not into slouchy bags so this one is definitely not for me. Just bit the bullet & bought myself the small SDJ which I love due to its structure.
Jana
hated it
I love the slouch!
