Some bags were revived from House archives, and I wish I purchased multiple renditions the first time. The Gucci Jackie is one of those bags for me. You probably forgot this bag ever left, as it’s such a staple for the brand that it’s hard to imagine otherwise. But Jackie was on an extended hiatus and brought back as part of Alessandro Michele’s fall 2020 show.
And just like that, the Jackie was back.
I’ve always been drawn to this bag. Its slim shape makes it feel sleek and perfectly manicured (as far as bags go). It possesses every element that says Gucci without saying Gucci. There are many colorways, sizes, and materials, so finding the bag that speaks to you is also a realistic option. And because of that very reason, you may see someone else with a Jackie, but nine times out of ten, it’s a different rendition.
The Perfect Little Jackie
For me, the perfect Jackie has a little shine, a little shimmer, a little ombre, and a lot of style. Speaking of Jackie versions, I will say I first became utterly obsessed with the GG crystal version (Kaitlin did as well), but I found a version that I consider just as flashy and attention-grabbing yet still wearable for casual dinner-to-dress-up events.
The other plus is it’s still available online (I was gifted this bag from Gucci last year for the holidays).
The official name of this specific variation is the Gucci Jackie 1961 Lamé Mini Bag; she is a dream. Depending on the light, this bag comes to life even further, with deeper hues of pink and gold.
Obviously, this is a mini bag. I love the look of a mini bag, and it fits a card case, car keys, and lipgloss, but not my phone entirely (or easily, because I can kind of find a way to make it go in, but not entirely so it sticks out.) Typically, this is a deal breaker for me, but this bag is not a daytime carry, so I have made it work and love it so much for its appearance that it makes up for the phone not fitting.
The Jackie 1961 is defined by its piston closure, and this mini also offers a removable chain shoulder strap with interlocking G goldtone hardware. The bag was designed to resemble the night skies, and I can assure you that every single time I carry it, I feel happy. Because of that, this bag serves its job perfectly. After all, my love for bags extends from merely carrying my items to also bringing me joy. Shop it now via Gucci.com for $3,490.

She’s beautiful – dusted in pink and gold!
why are these companies still making bags that don’t fit our phones!? I have gotten rid of so many bags that dont fit them. it’s ridiculous.
And an outside slip pocket to hold the phone…?
totally agree with the phone prob
I always have the largest phone possible, so I am not helping myself here! But I do get where you are coming from – at some point, even if mini, you still want your phone to fit. But the small version of the Jackie fits a phone 😉
Ok she’s stunning!
I love the color 💓
It’s so dreamy!! It always shows me different hues too, so I just love it!
Hi Megs, love this cutie little bag! Shimmer and shine is so much fun time of year, but especially at the holidays. The Jackie is a great bag.
Finally, this year I dropped back to an iPhone 16 Pro, not the max which I’ve had for some years and my phone fits in more small bags now. And that makes me love my small bags even more fun. Glad you have something you love 🩷
The Jackie was the biggest surprise for me. I bought the oatmeal-coloured one last year in the small size and it’s, by far, the most practical and chic bag. I didn’t expect it to work out that well. Very versatile too, because I remove the strap and get an entirely different look. I’m after my second one but I can’t decide the colour. I’m not a mini bag girl but this is stunning, I admit.
It is really a gem, but the not-fitting-the-phone is definitely a prob for me. I have a hard time when I go out at night – or anywhere – not taking one of my tote bags. Even with my YSL Camera bag that fits Iphone (barely) wallet, phone, keys, and lipstick. I know I need to pare down, but just can’t seem to.
I was gonna buy this one it was beautiful I think it was croc leather with sequins but when I went to the store it couldn’t hold my phone It’s beautiful to look at but not practical.
Sooooo pretty. You’ve got me lusting after this one.
Gucci’s confusing me a little with the Jackie, are they using both this clasp and the super standard issue looking dog clip one that was introduced in Sabato’s debut?
I prefer this piston clasp, but I believe the dog clip one is the newer renditions!
