December is right around the corner, and Gucci has just unveiled a further a look at its holiday 2020 collection in brand new imagery. This campaign screams 90s, which is very of-the-moment, possessing a retro feel and taking consumers back to a time when office culture around the holidays was an odd mix of workplace/bar/dance floor. Conceptualized by Alessandro Michele himself, the images feature new handbags and accessories set amongst seasonal decorations reminiscent of holidays of the past such as tinsel, streamers and balloons.
The collection plays off of key quintessential seasonal elements such as cozy warm layers, woolly houndstooth fabrics and shiny sequins evocative of sparkly holiday ensembles. The Marmont collection takes center stage in this campaign, shown in a few different iterations for holiday. The Marmont 2.0 chain shoulder bags are dressed up this season, given a sequined makeover in various eye-catching hues from gold and silver to striped pastels and neutral black. The sequined technique is achieved via micro sequins sewn onto a silk panel, which creates a fabric that shines and shimmers. The GG Marmont mini bucket is shown throughout as well, bearing the same sparkly treatment.

The Marmont 2.0 shoulder bag is also given a wintery makeover in a cute wool jacquard, which is the perfect accessory to your cold-weather wardrobe. Much more understated than the sequined versions of its kind, the plaid Marmont posses a retro vibe and is perfect for those who love a modern vintage feel. The collection also features the same fabric on women’s shoes and accessories, so you can pair an adorable bucket hat with wool-lined booties for a match-y winter look. I have always like the Marmont bags, and these are nice and festive. I have always thought that this is one of the best designer lines for your buck, you get a very nice bag for a reasonable price (reasonable for designer that is).
I’ll take one of each except for the plaid.
The silver bucket style ?
The way these photoshoots are styled makes these bags look EXTREMELY tacky. Just imagine how the bags would pop if the stylist was more minimalist and modern.
I concur! EXTREMELY TACKY
The bags are cute, but Gucci is known for their more flamboyant styles. If you are looking for “minimalist and modern” don’t ever expect it from Gucci. Wild styles and vivid colors seem to be their hallmark.
I actually love that the models are smiling throughout the campaign! This is much more effective for me
The individual pieces are all quite fun and festive but the styling is absolutely atrocious – the 60s had great style but Gucci is creating a parallel ugly version
I’ve never liked the Marmont and its big flashy logo, but I do appreciate the fun take here. They all look pretty special.
I guess I’m too old to appreciate this. And I hate the fact that they are using models that look like (or probably are) teenagers. I guess I naively hoped that modeling industry would be over this by now, using very young girls to model clothing aimed at adult women (not that young women couldn’t buy some of these clothes and bags, if they have the money, but this isn’t a “teenage” fashion line).
I hope these flaps come in a smaller size like the bucket. They would make for an adorable evening bag.
