Gucci Introduces a Colorful Take on Classic GG Monogram

Introducing GG Multicolor

This spring and summer it’s all about, COLOR. From bright greens, blues and yellows to muted pastels of pink and purple, colorful clothing, accessories, and of course, bags are the thing to say yes to this spring.

Of course our favorite luxury brands are a step ahead, introducing colorful new silhouettes while also surprising us with bold, bright takes on fan favorite bags. Gucci is the latest luxury brand to introduce a cool new collection in eye-catching hues and today we’re giving you a first look at the Gucci GG Multicolor collection.

GG Marmont Small in Multicolor ($2,190) and Solid ($2,050)

Alessandro Michele was once again influenced by Gucci’s history with this new collection, pulling from the archives to reimagine Gucci’s iconic monogram, known as the GG rhombi motif. The print dates back the ‘30s and served as a source of inspiration for Michele’s latest collection. The GG rhombi motif is reimagined in a bold color-blocked palette, creating a vibrant expression of the House’s iconic monogram print.

Seen through a colorful new lens, the GG Multicolor collection is not only a celebration of Gucci’s past, but it is a playful nod to both the present and future as well. The all-over monogram pattern and vivd palette is seen on a range of goods from RTW and shoes to the brand’s signature accessories, embracing the new possibilities that lie within variations of Gucci’s archives.

To showcase the collection, Alessandro Michele and the team created an imaginary beauty salon for the backdrop of the GG Multicolor campaign. Fan favorite bags such as the Marmont, Duffle and Belt Bag are seen in bold color-blocking as well as bright solids. Special versions of the Marmont are also seen in this collection with beautiful floral appliqués overtop the colorful monogram motif.

Wallets in #2 are cute. Nice to see something bright.

I didn’t like the GG monogram on the Marmont bags, but I’m liking the green version.

This is fun and kind of a refreshing take on their classic canvas. I kinda dig it.

To me, the Marmont is slowly becoming a classic and I am here for it

Taetae

funky!

I love color so this appeals to me. The teal Marmont is my favorite.

Why do I feel like Gucci is trying so hard to make a hit, but it’s an absolute failure. Too many colors lend itself towards a clownish effect, but maybe that’s just me.????

To me it seems like they have a target audience that they have nailed, and aren’t really broaching past that with some exceptions of simpler designs (camera bag/loafers etc.). A bit like Versace. No, their hits won’t ever be at the level of other brands, but I genuinely don’t get the impression from them that they want to.

They’re not my style even a little bit, nor the people around me, but I find them internally consistent.

Well said. Desperately trying to be cool too.

I love it! I think Gucci under AM has nothing to prove, very successful. I love the bags and the saturated colors! Not trying too hard just not afraid to experiment with color.

Norissa

Maybe, but are you buying Gucci bags? I don’t see Gucci bags anywhere, but I see plenty of Chanel, Dior and Hermes.

KD

The shoes in pics 1 and 7 look like bowling shoes…but less attractive.

Justice

Someone should write a post about Louis Vuitton’s new authenticity system and the fact that date codes are being phased out!

Maybe that “someone” could be you? You have a wide knowledge base about bags & I’d be interested in your input & perspective. I find it refreshing to read posts from different authors.

Dear Gucci: Who is your target market? There are too many primary and secondary colors and this looks juvenile. Is your goal to drive away consumers and to lag far behind other design houses? If that’s true it’s working! Signed, A former customer

The sneakers are cute. The rest will look dated very quickly. IMO, Gucci’s most successful attempts at bringing prints and logos together were the Blooms and Tian collections. Hard pass on the rest.
