If you’ve seen me in person during the past year, you have seen me carrying my Fauré Le Page Daily Battle at least once. If you see me at baseball practices and games, you have seen it weekly. If you’ve seen me in the car line and somehow peeked into my car, it’s on my passenger seat. The point is that this bag has been my most used bag over the past year.
And why is that you may wonder? There are so many reasons. Today, I am here to share some of them.
My Go-To Tote
My closet has many designer bags, ranging from oversized to rare to mini to exotics. Some are two decades old, which is when we started this website, and some are newer. Some cost more than a year of rent for my college apartment, and some cost a few hundred dollars. The point is that I have a vast collection and have learned the role each plays in my wardrobe over time.
I found an intriguing brand when I started working with Fauré Le Page. While steeped in history and founded in Paris in 1717, the brand was then bought by a French family in 2009 and revived. Distant House codes are still relevant and integrated, but the brand offers a more under-the-radar appeal.
The Daily Battle (and Daily Battle Zip) can go head to head with any sturdy daily tote. Crafted from Canvas and screen-printed with the iconic Scale motif, this bag is meant to be practical. And practical and usable it is.
This family of bags has many sizes, and I settled on the 35 (there are also 19, 27, and 41). A handful of colorways offer different options and personalization details, like ribbon color, medal charms, and letter medals.
I have been lucky enough to have both the open and zipped versions sent by the Fauré Le Page team for me to test. While an open tote is easy in many ways, for that random time that I sling my bag on the seat next to me and open that door only to have it fall and everything spill out, the zip-top version has become more of my go-to.
The bag is light, the shoulder strap drop can be adjusted, and I enjoy carrying something not everyone has. I receive endless compliments on my bag, and I have found it barely shows wear after far more use than any of the bags in my rotation. Plus, the price is very reasonable: $1,650 for the zip top and $1,490 for the open top.
I have a handful of friends who purchased this bag after seeing me with mine, and I’d be happy to have you join my under-the-radar and very cool Fauré Le Page Daily Battle family.
I really want this bag in this colour! Love 😍
I bought this bag last year in burgundy because I saw it here. I can’t say enough nice things about this purse. It looks so pretty, and I love how under the radar it is. People often ask me who makes it because they haven’t seen it before. This weekend was the first time I saw another person carrying the bag in the wild, and we both exclaimed over how much we love this tote.
The Burgundy is a really nice color option too!
I have the DB27 open top and it’s just a great everyday bag. I’ve had mine since 2018 and it shows very little wear. It’s not too big for daily errands and sits comfortably on my shoulder, but it is still big enough to hold small purchases while shopping. I’d love to get the next size up for travel but I already have more travel totes than I need.
Love a brand that keeps their price point reasonable! And they are about 25% of Goyard, available online, and no long line outside of the store. Plus they tell you how much their bags are online unlike Goyard who keeps it a secret for some unknown reason.
Can vouch for FLP as a sturdy bag that wears extremely well. I paid a little over $750 for the Daily Battle 37 [insert shocked Pikachu here]
Looks more sturdy than Goyard? Would you say it compares to LV Neverfull as far as strength goes? I have 2 Goyard PM’s and an Artois (a little too big for me) plus a couple of Neverfulls in rotation. I have found lately that the Goyard PM is just so flimsy, I hesitate to take it places. Another great tote (reversible from print to leather) I have is by Moreau Paris. Would love to have any comparison comments. I am seriously thinking of getting Faure.
I have owned the PM Daily Battle for 4 years now, and the leather is softer than my Goyard St. Louis or Rouette. It’s not the kind of leather that would “crack,” as some have complained about Goyard. I don’t like the LV Neverfull but many of my friends have it, and it’s heavier than the FLP Daily Battle. I enjoy FLP and am heavy handed with it.
Another very similar French made bag is the Moynat brand. Similar design and sturdiness factor as the Faure’, and equally well priced. I love mine!
My Goyard has been my everyday bag since 2020. It’s showing lots of wear and I was debating buying another one. I’ve been looking at that bag for over a year not sure I liked the gold motif. I think I’ll be buying one, maybe in Paris Blue.
I so want this bag and figured I’d buy it on my next Paris trip, but that keeps getting pushed out. I’m just about ready to pull the trigger and order it as a Holiday present for myself. I’m debating the Gray or Black since I have a Goyard in Navy. Looking a your photos do you have both the Black and Navy?
I sold my neverful mm a while ago because I felt too old to carry it! All the sorority girls have them. I wanted to carry a tote that was not carried by everyone. Even Goyard is very popular. I do love the colors the St. Louis comes in but just my experience they kind of start to “ crack?” on the outside. I’ve had my DB for 4 or 5 years. I’m telling y’all the leather straps and the outside coating are like new. I keep holding my breath hope it stays special and under the radar! Any feedback on any of their other bags?
Would love to see an inside photo once emptied out. Can’t find one on their website.
I will add photos of the interior for you, but I have this one pic from my open-top Daily Battle for you to see now!
How do I love FLP lemme count the ways: reasonable pricing; sturdier than St Louis; not as oversaturated; beautiful.
