Pre-fall used to be a wedged-in mini season used by big brands to fill store shelves in between summer sales and full-scale fall arrivals, but in a high-end market with a near-insatiable thirst for newness and product churn, almost every brand presents a full lineup of ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories for the formerly low-key season. Only the biggest brands present the lines with full-scale, consumer-friendly spectacles, though, and that’s where we come in.
We tore through the lookbooks and press images provided to Vogue Runway by dozens of global brands to find the best handbags in them, both from designers we feature all the time and those that are lesser-known or completely new to the bag game. You can check out all of our results below as we get ready to see what brands have in store for Fall 2016 starting at New York Fashion Week next week.
There are a couple notable brands missing; Céline, Proenza Schouler and Chloé all chose not to make images of their collections available to the public until the clothes hit stores in order to stave off copycats, and Louis Vuitton has yet to show its Pre-Fall 2016 collection (and I can’t find any information on when, or if, it will). When we have more information on those collections, we’ll update you.
Love the new Coach Rouge bags……
I agree with you whole heartedly. Thanks for saying it. People are always so quick to attack Coach but I’m always open to see what they come out with, especially lately.
Who is this Delpozo and why haven’t we met?
This is the brand’s first run of handbags, I believe!
After 53 images I’m handbagged-out. Color, texture, appliqué overload.
Only 2 or 3 I’d consider. What’s with the goofy shapes (camera, dog)? Delpozo looks like an Inside bag copy.
OMG! That’s exactly how I felt. Nice bags but whew, it’s too much of too much! Nothing to make me sprint to the store. And I’m so done with handbag as anything but handbag. I’m not carrying the latest Chanel microwave oven bag for $8000 and calling myself chic. ????
Well, I am sufficiently underwhelmed.
Coach’s bags are quite nice here. Almost good enough for a work environment. I will have to see the bags when they’re released.
That purple Fendi bag is gorgeous! Coach bags would look so much nicer without the white stitching, but that’s also a pet peeve of mine.
The maxmara is beautiful and they last so long
Never heard of Delpozo. Gonna go check it out right now!
wonderful post!!! thanks
Great post — a really interesting group. Most disappointing were the two Coach examples (photos 12, 13). The first looks like a bad Sac du Jour imitation, the second just semi-tacky. I love the color of the Fendi Peekaboo (photo 20) but don’t know whether I’d like the braid — I need to see it IRL. One of my two favorites is the Gucci (photo 22). Great print — I hope it comes in slip-on sneakers as well, they would be a definite buy for me — perfect visiting or working in a tropical location. I hope it has shoulder straps. Weirdest, IMO, are the JW Anderson bags (photos 24, 25). Are they supposed to be a Chloe Faye alternative? Those two circles give the appearance of a bull with a ring through its nose. Very odd. Great green color through. The Lanvin bag (photo 27) has a cool Parisian vibe — I’d think hard about getting that one, unless the animal print part is calf hair (ugh). Max Mara’s bag (photo 32) is probably the best all-around work bag. Chic but understated. And finally, the print Versace bag (photo 51) is very pretty — a nice bag for going out in spring/summer — so not sure why they created it as a pre-fall bag.
Oooooh…Christopher Kane, I like! What’s happening ot you Givenchy, you’re going all Grandma on us??!!
The first coach bag! T-rex charm!! Black leather!!!! Yessssssssssssssssssss
Out of all of those bags, my favorite is the Coach Rogue, hands down.
How else do I say this? On a scale of 1 – 10 a 6.
I agree.I love this Max Mara bag, too.
just bought a Whitney and it’s gorgeous!
