When models walked the runway at Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2022 show with heart-shaped bags in varying candy-colors thrown across their bodies, fashion fans took notice. While the show as a whole was an ode to the nostalgia of the ’80s and ’90s, the bags were equally as playful and fun, but the season’s standouts were definitely heart-shaped mini bags.
This is not the first time Chanel has presented us with a heart purse. In fact, the brand first introduced the shape back in the ’90s, which makes sense why Virginie Viard included them in the collection, which is an ode to the House’s past. Brands like Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Saint Laurent are also not new to the game, but this is the first time I’ve warmed up to the idea of heart-shaped bag.
Heart Bags Are It This Season
The Chanel heart bag is one of the season’s most-wanted pieces, with waitlists rumored to have begun taking names last October. This month, the bags launched in stores, and we’ve already seen them on our favorite fashion girls both during fashion month and IRL. The Heart bag even has its own dedicated thread on tPF, with many Chanel fans unable to find one from their SA or even a reseller.
There are a few different variations, including a belt bag and a coin purse pouch, but the resounding favorite seems to be the Heart bag, which retails for $5,500. It is available in neutrals like black and white, as well as pretty colors perfect for the spring/summer season like pink and purple (the bag of my dreams!). The attention to detail on the heart bags is well noted, crafted from lambskin, with diamond quilting that sits symmetrically throughout. The finishing touch is a leather zipper pull fitted with a metallic CC heart at the end.
What do you think? Too cute or too cutesy for you?

Too cutesy for adults and too pricey for 5-year-olds who are the people who should be its target demographic.
The 5-year-old side of me agrees, and then asks to hold mommy’s Kelly. (That is how I fell in love with Hermès)
I will say my 5 year old is obsessed with it ha
My 6 y.o. Granddaughter is too! 👛💕
I think this bag is fun for young people and should be priced around $1200
True!
I think is funny how much people love to get on this site to criticize and post negative comments on not just brands they can’t afford but also the people who buy them.
the “pb trolls” should simply stay off the site or just not feed into it
the heart bags are cute and trending FACTS…
What makes you think they can’t afford it?
Well saId.
why you turned off comments on the channel 22 post?
”Available in 3 sizes, what do you think about this new design?”
When a post commences with the above question, people are encouraged to share their opinion. There is nowhere mentioned that the post is sponsored or in collaboration with…
Probably the days of PB honest reviews are over?
I responded to this above, but the post was not sponsored. I will edit the portion of the text that opened it up for discussion, as that isn’t the case any longer.
We work with brands in a variety of ways – and one is me reaching out and asking for samples to photograph and then share with our readers. This was the case for the Chanel 22 post. The text was my words and my review of the bag after seeing it in person.
It is such a contradicting move by chanel tbh. On one hand, they are going around to promote their new products to create a frenzy. While one the other hand, these bags that got people’s attention are unable to get them because usually these bags will be reserved and sold to VIPs first.
An SA showed me the black and the white yesterday, I didn’t even ask because I’m absolutely not a fan of anything heart-shaped, and I’m absolutely not a VIP.
Since they turned off comments on the Chanel 22 post, I’m suspicious of the overly positive tone of this post. Seems to be like this is damage control. What’s sad is we’re not insulting the brand but giving honest feedback. Both the 22 and the heart are just not great bags. One is ugly and the other childish.
I just can’t justify with the price and products quality anymore!
In addition, PB should respect our freedom of expression!!
Always thought this is a nice plat form where we all can share our thoughts and exchange opinions as well as information. No?
Oooh thanks for asking, I didn’t realize. Went to the post to remember the bag. Lol, it was the post that was filled with “oh what an expensive dust bag” comments! I can see why Chanel didn’t like it. It’s one of those things where even if you didn’t see it, once someone says it it’s all you can see.
On rare occasions, comment threads on our articles may be closed based on the brand partner we are working with and their feedback and preference.
Shouldn’t the post on the 22 bag have disclosed that it is a partnered post? I just went back to check and it definitely reads like an “independent” review. If a brand is sponsoring a post, I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to disclose that. I don’t mind sponsored posts and ads (you need to earn a living, after all), but I don’t like ads in disguise. Seems very dishonest.
It wasn’t a sponsored post, all sponsored posts are always marked on the top line as you’ve seen in other posts. For the Chanel 22 post, we pulled samples from the brand, I wrote the review myself after seeing the bags in person, and Kaitlin and our photographer took the photos.
We do work with brands on many different levels and while originally the post had comments open, ultimately we spoke with the brand and the decision was made to close the comments. It is a rarity, and moving forward I will work with brands ahead of time for a clear and concise way to stay true to our voice. We of course value everyone’s opinions on our posts and we aim to keep discussions open across the board here.
That’s censorship and by law “freedom of expression” is protected against censorship. That’s disappointing that a legal right is being exchanged for financial gain. Chanel can learn from public comments. Many people are disappointed in their products which should motivate them to make changes. Perhaps they don’t care because people will buy anything that screams “Chanel”.
Private companies can do what they like. Freedom of expression protects one from censorship by their government.
Well said!
Yes, I found the censorship of negative comments (that is, virtually all the comments) disheartening and not something I thought PB would sink to.
Wondering if PB receive free bags or kick backs.
we all want to share very honest feedback and opinions don’t we? Our voice has to be respected.
No free bags, no kick backs, no financial transaction. The bags we shared in that post were samples that were borrowed for photos and returned to the brand.
You are gifted bags. Ergo, it’s a free bag. Doubt you pay taxes on the free bags either. Just FYI, in LA County taxes are 9.5%. On top of the $5k for a bag. Think the commenters are justified questioning the integrity of the said reviews when clearly there is a transaction taking place.
Am sure Chanel or another brand of equal luxury does not want to read a poor review after they just sent you a bag retailing for $2500+. Doubtful another bag would land in your mailbox. THAT is the point the commenters are highlighting.
Yes, I do get bags as gifts – which I always say was a gift from the brand. However, how I read it and how I responded was about this specific bag, and even the brand Chanel. I am not gifted by Chanel, and was not gifted this bag. I don’t fall into the typical influencer gifting schedule in any way – I *do* get gifts, but typically around the holidays only.
Fair point, but it doesn’t apply in this case. The Chanel 22 bags were not gifted, the samples were returned back to the brand.
As an independent publisher, we walk a fine line between managing brand relationships (that we rely on to pull samples for reviews and features) and respecting our community’s voice. It’s tricky at times, but as Megs said, we’ll handle things differently going forward to manage expectations on the brand side.
To clarify, you have been gifted bags, as you’ve stated in previous posts. I remember since I drooled over them, but I don’t feel that you promoted them. You just shared your envious beauties. 🌹
Yes I have! But not in this case – not the Chanel 22 and not Chanel bags in general. I always say if I am gifted a bag!
As the article was updated by removing comments, perhaps the subhead asking “what do you think about this new design” should have been removed as well. Chanel clearly wasn’t interested in honest opinions — including those of long-time Chanel fans and customers.
As there was a change made to that article allowing comments, I appended the end of the article as well. You are right.
$5500? You mean a down payment for a car? Lol.
Not my style. As a grown up woman, I wouldn’t even pay $50 for this heart shaped bag. 🤣
The heart bag is a bit of a disappointment. I think bags should be able to hold a phone… the small doesn’t achieve that and it’s nearly 5k. I’m going to restate what was said in my previously deleted comment… the 22 looks like a trash bag with chains on it. I recall that a less fortunate girl in our school having a Sack like that for her gym clothes.
I think they made a mini size that does not fit a phone because that is what most women want now. The trend is tiny bags. The larger size does fit a phone.
i thought the heart design was ridiculous but I tried on the belt bag and liked it, which i did not expect.
I think it’s cute. Not my style but I can see someone rocking this bag.
I saw it on someone (posted it on tiktok and Instagram) and loved it on her!
You can barely fit keys in the purple heart wristlet but it’s definitely a charmer on the right person and when so does not seem age specific.I do agree that Chanel has gotten too expensive and deserves the criticism. If they take it to heart it will help them in the end. There was a point in time when Louis Vuitton lost a lot of customers because their prices went too high and they reversed it and maintained their customer base. If Chanel wants to stay prestigious they must broaden their base by keeping affordable handbags in the mix. I am not a Hermes fan-think their bags are matronly. Loved the Chanel Lagerfeld era and don’t like that Chanel has seemed to become predatory. Too risky and garnering bad blood from everywhere. Lastly I do like the wristlet heart-it’s unique and almost like a cuff and has a ton of charm -. I bought it and at first was turned off by the size but it’s definitely special and has a ton of uniquely Chanel beautiful charm when appropriately styled.
I don’t do heart-shaped jewelry or accessories myself, but they’re fun. Sophie Shohet got the one in black and it looks cute on her.
I appreciate VV bringing fun back to the brand. It’s like Karl circa the 90s. Fashion should be a good time!
I love these bags! Saw them on a tiktok purseblog posted and now I want one
Love heart shaped bags ! 😍😍
Looks like a design from Brighton…btw, makes good quality handbags.
Would be a great fun accessory for clubbing, can’t wait till we can safely go clubbing again!
I didn’t like it at first but after reading reviews people have said they’re surprised at how much they end up wearing it! I’m considering it for a new summer bag if it will last more than a season 🙏
