Cult favorite brand Telfar gained popularity due to its no fuss, accessible approach towards fashion, and all the while its beloved logo shopping tote became a must-have for fashionistas in the know. Last summer, the brand exploded even further as the long-overdue social justice movement thrust Black-owned brands and businesses into the spotlight, catapulting the brand’s popularity even further.
As a result, Telfar became privy to both the pros and the cons of creating an It-Bag. Fans clamored to get their hands on a bag with every drop, as color after color consistently sold out and the bag’s scarcity was at its peak. While the brand still operates using this model, and the best way to stay up to date is to subscribe to the brand’s newsletter and follow @TelfarGlobal on Instagram, founder Telfar Clemens came up with another way to satisfy his bag-hungry fans: The Telfar Bag Security Program.
The first Telfar Bag Security Program took place in August, giving fans 24 hours only to secure the bag of their dreams by pre-ordering (and paying upfront for) the size and color of their choosing. The catch is that your bag is essentially made to order, so it won’t arrive for a few months.

Both Megs and myself ordered bags back in August, and waited patiently for their late-December arrival. Now, the brand is at it again, announcing its Bag Security Program II, which begins today, March 30th at 9am EDT and runs through tomorrow, March 31st at 9pm EDT. For 36 hours only (that’s right, Telfar surprised us with an extra 12 hours!), you can order the Telfar bag you’ve had your eye on. The brand touted the simplicity of its program on social media explaining: you order the bag (any color, any size and no limits), the bag is made to order just for you and the the bag ships between July 15th and September 15th. ugh this is just renewing my frustration with myself for not pre-ordering the Ugg collab they did in the fall. Sigh.
While I’m team #veganleather, the suede spoke to me. And yes, totes forgot that I ordered one. I should be ashamed, seeing as how I wanted to get a YSL tote, and then went WAIT THERE’S A BAG HEADED MY WAY I AM A BEAST.

I really like the look of it, as well as the concept! I’ve been thinking about this bag for a year and I think I’ll finally pull the trigger and get a small one 🙂
So many issues with this. First, these are final sale. Where are these made? What are the dimensions, what does the inside look like? What is it made out of? I just don’t get the hype.
I wanted to add. I just emailed them. Their response: The bags are made in China. The Shopping Bags are made from faux leather and twill lining Small (Height 4 3/4″, Width 6 5/8″, Depth 3 1/8″, Drop 21″)Featuring a double strap (handles and cross-body straps), embossed logo, and magnetic snap closure. Medium (Height 10 3/4″, Width 15″, Depth 5″, Drop 21″) same as small plus internal zipper pocket Large (Height 14 1/4″, Width 19 1/4″, Depth 8″, Drop 21″) They also sent me a picture of what the inside of the bag looks like. So an A+ for customer service!
I missed the last drop so I’m super excited to catch this one, especially with all these brands completely and totally ripping off the Telfar look!
