Introducing the Alexander McQueen Story Bag

Brand new for Pre-Spring 2020, we're giving you a close look at this new everyday bag

Alexander McQueen bags have made their appearance here and there on PurseBlog, and while we haven’t necessarily covered them in detail for some time now, we hear you when you guys ask us for more variety! Today we’re giving you a look at the new to the scene Alexander McQueen Story bag. True to its name, The Story takes inspiration from the sharing of stories, which is said to have long since been at the heart of the McQueen house. I’ve always loved the McQueen aesthetic as it was different, sort of goth-chic and easy to spot amongst other brands and I’m excited to give this bag a good look.

This new design is sleek in shape and design, featuring minimal branding and and a chic jewelry-inspired handle. Its feminine shape is ideal for everyday, yet it can transition well from day to night as it features a dainty top handle strap as well as a detachable crossbody strap. My favorite feature of the bag is the double flap closure, which adds a little something extra to the clean, fairly structured bag design. The Story bag is new for Pre-Spring 2020, but it has already been seen on various style stars such as Kaia Gerber and Selena Gomez.

The Story bag comes in a wide variety of colors aside from the Khaki and Black shown here. Each bag is crafted of smooth calf leather with contrasting trim. The black is the most bold, featuring bright red leather detailing, The handle is accented with two studs and is made of an organic brass-finished metal. Inside there is one main compartment and a slit card pocket as well as a front zippered pocket. In addition to the top handle and the crossbody strap, the bag can be carried as a clutch by sliding a hand through the metal handle. Discover more via Alexander McQueen.

this bag is all things bad – typically i would expect Louis Vuitton to come up with such a debacle in terms of how bad the hardware, logo or rather full name, and clunky this is – this should be called a HISTORY BAG and should be in the past never to be revisited

So blah and the logo is awful. Maybe if it said just “McQueen” in tiny letters it would be nicer, but still not nice enough.

The bag itself is a nice enough shape but the hardware looks uncomfortable. Can you image bumping into someone with that thick metal loop? Ouch! On top of that it looks like a kitchen draw pull…from the 70’s. Also not loving the logo…but I never like logos!

Vlaibl

Totally a cabinet pull!!! But love the red accents. Very Louboutin.

I want this bag, but it seems a bit overpriced. I was thinking more in the $1500 range.

I wish more bags were in the $1500 range – I feel like we skipped over that for majority of bags.

Ann

The handle or “kitchen pull” is so large and protrudes significantly. I can only see it catching on everything.

I like the shape, profile pic and the color scheme, but the logo and hardware in the front ruins it. If they were more subtle, I’d love this bag.

MademoiselleConnasse

This bag would be so much better without the brand name spelled out. Sigh.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

Looks like brands are very into branding right now and that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Lots of ugly and tacky trends out there!

GREAT, blocky color contrast- Traditional style with a hint of whimsy. Bet all 9 pounds of me fits in it. ? (Little Lucy Lou)

That hardware and the logo are horrible.
