The Many Bags of Anne Hathaway

Back when Anne Hathaway was cast as Catwoman in Dark Knight Rises, there was a lot of hemming and hawing over whether or not she’d be able to pull off the beloved comic book role. Inexplicably (to me, at least), people have some harsh opinions about Anne, despite the fact that she seems to be, at worst, a perfectly competent actress and a pleasant, intelligent person in interviews. Even I was worried about Anne’s Dark Knight potential, though – Catwoman is my favorite comic book character of all time, and Anne seemed too nice to achieve the darkness and edge necessary to make her come alive.

When I saw the movie on opening weekend, though, I was pleasantly surprised; Hathaway’s was one of the best performances of the film, and I found her totally believable in the role, much to my own surprise. My affection renewed, now seems like as good a time as ever to take a closer look at Anne’s fashion choices, and in particular, her bags. Join me after the jump for The Many Bags of Anne Hathaway.

Let’s start way back when Anne was still dating that crazy Italian dude who screwed her over and got deported. (If anything, I would think that whole fiasco would make women everywhere sympathetic toward her!) Raffaello was always in a suit, no matter what, and Anne’s own personal style reflected some of that formality during her years with him. What’s better for that look than a Chanel Classic Flap Bag? Nothing.

Love Anne! And btw, I have developed a slight obsession with the Ricky bag…just can’t get past what I see is a very unreasonable price for it :-/

I’m one of those people who is a bit turned off by her. I was a big fan, then the whole dating an Italian Ponzi scammer situation happened and I was sympathetic. But then she started doing interviews, and I got the sense she may have known a little more then she let on. At the time she wasn’t as big a star and I think she enjoyed the life he was offering, i.e. yachts, private planes, etc. She just doesn’t seem genuine. She will be whatever she thinks the person across from her wants her to be…and evidently her new beau wants her to be a hipster. Yuck!

Not of fan. Of Anne, that is. I liked her plenty until I saw an interview with her on Jay Leno. She is not a genuine person at all. She is always “acting”!

That Christian Louboutin clutch for $2700? Are you crazy! It is really overpriced for such a simple clutch, it doesn’t look original. I don’t think Christian Louboutin should charge SO much for his clutches, some of them are very tacky…

Other that the handful of bag choices that i see on stars most of their choices are pretty predictable. In the streets of where I live, there are far more interesting choices, the Fendi Forever Fendi bag, noticed quite a few on women, including moi, the Amazona on my commute to work, a lot of Kate Spade and some very interesting choices at that, Pucci totes on a handful and Goyard. Wondering if the stars in the US are just your classic snores.
