Another New York Fashion Week has come and (almost) gone, and this NYFW was full of firsts. The biggest buzz was over all the brands that decided to dabble with see-now, buy-now collections that allow consumers to purchase certain items straight off the runway, as opposed to waiting six months for the full collection to arrive in stores.
The advent of social media has long had brands questioning how to maximize the utility of runway shows, and this is their latest tactic. While I haven’t seen a ton of shoes available for immediate purchase off the runway, you can currently shop select ready-to-wear pieces from Rebecca Minkoff, Michael Kors and Tory Burch. It’ll be interesting to see in the upcoming days how consumers respond.
Compared to NYFW Fall 2015, things are falling more into place for certain brands. Stuart Vevers of Coach captured a 70s aesthetic with ankle boots and chunky-heeled loafers, and Alexander Wang took an edgier approach than seasons past. According to Vogue Runway, Wang said this collection “deliberately opposes standard definitions of beauty and taste,” and that’s evident in the designer’s heavily embellished footwear. Celebrity collaborations were also a hot item this fashion week, with Rihanna’s debut collection for Puma and Kanye West’s Yeezy Season Three for Adidas.
We don’t want to give everything away, so check all the best shoes that graced the runways below.

Relieved to see very few platform styles…hopefully Paris and Milan shows continue with mostly single soled styles!
Many good choices here, especially 2,4,5,25,27,30.
I’ll buy a shoe that has some personality but won’t buy a shoe that’s screaming for attention (like Rodarte).
Ouch. #35 looks so painful, I can almost feel it by just looking at it. Poor girl.
OMG you mean it’s her feet getting on the plexi ?
