Bottega Veneta Large Cabat

While in Venice, Italy, Vlad and I made ourselves quite comfortable in the Bottega Veneta Venice store. Aside from the fact that all exotics BV makes were there, and the colors and choices were divine, there were a few limited edition pieces that deserve tons of credit. Available online in the stunning metallic Ottone color (gold), the Bottega Veneta Limited Edition Large Cabat is an oversized attention grabber.

Hermes Birkin in Croc Porosus Lisse

In the race for Forbes’ Most Extravagant Handbags, it comes to be no surprise that Hermes takes the cake. The Hermes Birkin in Croc Porosus Lisse is no boring ‘ole standard issue 35cm Birkin, but made on special order only. The limited bag is set with over 10 carats of shiny diamonds, and with a price tag of nearly $150,000 I am quite confident that the number of orders on this beauty are quite limited as well.

Lana Marks cleopatra bag

When it comes to the race for the most expensive handbag in the world, the top two competitors can not just blindly rely on handmade craftsmanship, exotic materials and an established name. To achieve maximum hyper-inflation, Lana Marks bumps her Cleopatra clutch up in the ranks by adding 1,500 small black & white diamonds to an 18 carat gold clasp. That should definitely do for a 6-figure price tag, yet short of the most expensive bag in the world.

The buzz heard around the world came from the Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag. Not only was I less than impressed, but also highly annoyed that those behind the curtains and scene named that atrocious mess ‘the most expensive bag in the world’. Give me a break Mr and Mrs LV PR. And give me a bigger break to the suckers who bought it.

Gadino Bag by Hilde Palladino

On with the realm of the world’s most extravagant handbags comes a bag by a little known designer to the masses. Hilde Palladino, the Norwegian designer, created the Gadino Bag which is made with white crocodile and 39 diamonds which are placed on the clasps. Personally, I’d like my diamonds around my neck or on my ears. How about a trip around the world, a shopping spree, and traveling first class?

Fendi Selleria Bag

Either chinchilla or sable, take your pick on this Fendi bag that can be made a special order and limited edition. Many people do not know that Fendi is known for its furs so there is no doubt that the Fendi Selleria Bag in either sable or chinchilla would be divine. It would not be my first choice and it will not be in my price range.

Marc Jacobs Carolyn Crocodile Handbag

Personally, the whole quilted pattern is not my thing. Maybe for a seasonal bag I will take the plunge, but not for a bag that could be a gorgeous diamond ring. I would opt for a Hearts on Fire diamond ring and band (probably get a good size stone) before buying the Marc Jacobs Carolyn Crocodile Handbag.

Nancy Gonzalez Porousus Bag

Spending a lot of money on an evening bag makes sense to me, if you are a star or A-lister. That way you get it for free. Many evening bags are exorbitantly priced, but within your own range I say go for that nice evening bag, it makes the outfit. The Nancy Gonzalez Porousus Bag is made with a nearly perfect crocodile skin and features special order embellishments.

Leiber Dandelion Suede Gator Handbag

First we have the least costly of them all, the Leiber Dandelion Suede Gator Handbag. Coming in at $15,000, this yellow gator bag with 18 carat gold is very limited (only four made) and very chic. I love the yellow but I guarantee you that I would not carry this bag much. Just for some very special occasions on special nights.
