Evening Bags

Although I really like Tod’s new Scala Pochette Sera clutch for this fall season, I can’t help but picture it having only a very limited range of use. Granted, it is a very elegant evening clutch, but for some reason the clutch seems to require even more of an ambience that just any evening. I can picture it being worn during high class, high societal events, something along the lines of a presidential banquet or a get-together of upper scale business men who drag their wives along. eLuxury describes red carpet glamour, but I think it’s just more than that. I just can’t lose that feeling. Maybe I am just awfully off, I don’t know.

Anyhow, Tod’s crafted an exquisite evening clutch with luxe accents like golden scroll-shaped jewel clasp, astrakhan fur, and lush suede gussets. The Interior comes with a slot pocket and is lined in fine silk. The jewel clasp closure is engraved with Tod’s logo and protective golden feet support its stand. Let’s face it: when we are going out for an fancy evening on the town or just trying to dress up some, not only must we worry about our handbag to take along with us, but also the outfit we plan to wear. It eventually comes down to the fact that something has got to give. Preferably, I would not want it to be the bag, but then again outfits costs an armload. And if you need to have a budget for all of it to begin with, why not still be dressed chic? This is why I love Banana Republic. I was browsing there online store (which by the way has some totally to-die-for new items) and this Banana Republic Quilted Satin Clutch grabbed my attention for both the low price and the alluring style. Made with lustrous silk satin and quilted with metallic thread, this long clutch will grab anyone’s attention. Only adding more elegance is the distinctive prism clasp. The clutch is s stunning 4 1/4″ x 13″ x 1/2″. For a mere $48 at Banana Republic this clutch can not be passed up.

Again I find myself focusing on evening bags, because for some reason important events have seemed to pop up left and right. I love being part of really fancy dinner parties, balls, business meetings or what have you. For me it’s a time to get to play dress up, which I think every woman should embrace, and another reason to get to splurge on a new gown or dress and of course evening bag! (Actually the last party I attended the woman who threw the party for herself, a very high-class socialite, had an evening bag made simply of diamonds- my jaw was walking on the floor for the entire evening gawking over it!) Anyhow I know that not all of us can afford a bag adorned in the finest jewels and diamonds and satin… pah! One of these days I may be able to, but for now I love finding simply elegant and affordable evening bags.

Although the infamous Rolling Stones belt out “You can’t always get what you want”, the Forzieri Lucky Charm Beige Python and Croco Leather Mini Bag proves them wrong. This mini bag has it all. For some it may appear like too much is going on, but I just love it. Maybe I’m a little over the top like the bag. This bag features ornate charms of luck, love, and protection. Made of embossed calf leather and lined with lime suede leather, the mini boasts a python and croco styled outside. It’s excessive glam for under $100. The more I have delved into high end fashion, I have realized designers truly have no problem saying what they really think. John Galliano’s was recently recorded saying his motivation when he designs is to design clothes for women that make men want to f*** them. If that is not toally upfront and forward, I don’t know what is. What I do know is that our society and culture have pressed women to dess sexy and desirable. And what is wrong with feeling desired?

After that being said, as much as Galliano’s remark took me off guard, I do have to admit that his designs are sexy and his bags are unique and simply divine. I’m in love with his Lingerie Handbag. Evening bags are hard to come by, and a soft yet chic design shows beauty and true sophistication. The bag comes in light pink, white, beige, and black and is made of satin, leather, and metal adornments. I’ve been meaning to credit the Dior Saddle Bag for the longest time, and finally comes the day that I do so. What the Kelly to Hermes, and what the classic monogram is to LV, Dior’s is the Saddle Bag. The form is just extraordinarily sexy and timeless, and as much as the bags were withheld from the general public in their earliest days, these days we can consider ourselves lucky to have unrestricted access to the Saddles. Which of the Saddles you will call your own someday depends mainly on your funds, of course.
