Evening Bags    Lanvin

Start your day with Lanvin sparkles

Thursday is my least favorite day of the week lately. You’re so close to the weekend that you can almost taste it, and yet you still have a full day of work ahead of you before you can even get to Friday. And then a full day of work on Friday before you can get to happy hour. I don’t know how to describe that, other than “cruel.” Particularly when it’s summer outside and all I want to do is go get some frozen yogurt and stare at something that’s not my computer for a few hours. I’m sure almost all of you can feel me on that one.

My employment (and your enjoyable blog-reading) count on Megs and I sticking around here for the foreseeable future, though, so if I have to stare at my computer, I’m going to do it with some serious eye candy: the Lanvin Sea Breeze Crystal Minaudiere. You can almost feel the wind coming in off the water, can’t you?

The reason that Lanvin is one of my favorite brands is that Alber Elbaz always keeps things at least one degree shy of over-the-top. He doesn’t over-design or over-embellish; instead, Elbaz finds a way to bring a balance to his work that a lot of designers could learn from. This clutch is a great example of his light touch. Instead of using metal and crystals at their peak of radiance, this clutch is aged to dampen the shine just a little bit, which gives it a beautiful, almost pearlescent glow. It’s a perfect evening bag for a formal event on a warm summer night, which seems like exactly what Lanvin set out to make. $2490 via Bergdorf Goodman.
