The Many Bags of Emma Roberts

In the interest of full disclosure: I’ve never seen a single movie that Emma Roberts has been in, and therefore I cannot pontificate on her merits as an actress. It’s not that I’ve avoided them, but Emma simply plays to an audience younger than I am. Tweens love her, but somehow she’s managed to make a great career for herself without being thought of as only a tween star. That’s quite the accomplishment – just ask Miley and Hilary.

When I think of Emma, I mainly think of her handbag collection. (Big surprise, right?) Not only is she a great lover of the Proenza Schouler PS1 just like I am, but her picks are fairly diverse – from big names like Balenciaga and Chanel to indies like Olympia Le-Tan and Jerome Dreyfus, plus a little pre-Phoebe Philo Celine, and, alright, some post-Phoebe Celine too. Check out our full rundown of Emma’s collection below.

Usually I don’t start out with my favorite bag from a star’s collection, but I love this burgundy suede Proenza Schouler PS1 too much to resist. Pick up your own burgundy PS1 via Proenza Schouler for $1695.

If you prefer your burgundy bags to be regular leather, Emma has that covered – her Yves Saint Laurent Cabas ChYc is the biggest color of the season. Of course, your eyes might have gone directly to her Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Pegase Suitcase instead. You can pick up the YSL via Neiman Marcus for $1990 and your very own customized Pegase for $3400 via Louis Vuitton.

Come to think of it, Emma might just like red bags in general. This bright Chloe Paraty is certainly befitting of a red-lover. Pick one up for $1895 via Net-a-Porter.

And another red bag! The Prada Smoking Lips Clutch is another of my favorites from Emma’s collection. In fact, it might be second in line, right behind the suede PS1. Shop Prada via Neiman Marcus.

This Mulberry Bayswater is pink, but what’s pink if not light red? Huh? There’s some thinking for you to do today. You can grab the burgundy version for $1350 via Net-a-Porter.

In fact, Roberts seems to be quite the creature of habit. Not only does she have a black 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli (which can be yours for $650 via Barneys)…

…but Emma also has a black Celine Nano Luggage Tote. Functionally speaking, aren’t those more or less the exact same bag? They’re structured the same way, they’re the same size, they’re both crossbodies, they’re both the same color, they’re both the small version of a larger north-south tote with flared gussets. I would have gone for a different color in one of them!

Emma had the right idea with her Proenza Schouler PS1 collection – instead of going for another burgundy (or another suede) PS1, she opted for bright blue leather. Buy through Proenza Schouler for $1695.

Emma also chose blue with this Jerome Dreyfuss Bobo Shoulder Bag. You can get the brown version for $850 via Barneys.

Is this Balenciaga Folk Messenger Bag blue? Is it grey? Is it blue-grey? Your guess is as good as mine. Pick up the black version for $1225 via Barneys.

This Armani Exchange Sueded Foldover Clutch, on the other hand, is definitely blue. You can pick up one of your very own for a very reasonable $59 via Armani Exchange.

Just when you think you have Emma’s style sorted out, she goes and chooses something a little bit nuts like the Olympia Le-Tan Milk Carton Crossbody. Shop Olympia Le-Tan via Net-a-Porter.

Anyone remember back when Celine bags looked like the Celine Blosson Bag? The pre-Phoebe days were lean times indeed.

Fret not, Emma now has a few more chic tan and beige options, like this Tila March Zelig Tote. Shop Tila March via Barneys.

Another good neutral: the Chloe Elsie Shoulder Bag. Grab your own for $1695 via Neiman Marcus.

The least-basic neutral of Emma’s collection is a tie. The first contender: The Christian Louboutin Justine Spike Tote Bag, $2595 via Neiman Marcus

The second contender: this crazy Miu Miu Studded Leather Tote from several years back. Which one do you prefer? Shop Miu Miu via Net-a-Porter.

We’ll finish the roundup with another highlight: this ombre dyed Chanel Flap Bag is easily one of my favorite Chanel designs that I’ve ever seen.
