People who know me, know that I’m a jeans-and-T-shirt kind of gal. I have an extensive collection of pieces that are easy to wear and not considered statement pieces, I leave my bags to do most of the attention-catching. But after seeing the droves of people at New York Fashion Week, I always reconsider some fun pieces that I want to add to my wardrobe.
New York City is always brimming with openings, new stores and fashion innovation, and in December, Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo’s famed Dover Street Market opened its doors in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. Dover Street Market has filled its space with high-end, avant guarde fashion and design shops, including a pop-up store from Louis Vuitton on the ground floor.
As Amanda has already shared (and if you follow any fashion-related handles on social media, you already know), New York Fashion Week started yesterday. Industry folk, celebrities, bloggers, and just about every other fashion lover have descended upon Lincoln Center and other venues around New York City to preview the Fall 2014 collections.
We still plan to share the best bags from the runway collections, but this year Vlad is taking to the streets to photograph the best bags he spots each day.
On PurseForum, there are threads in each designer section in which members share their purchases for the month. I don’t buy a new bag every month, even though many believe I do (and I wish I did), but watching others unwrap their newest goodies is the next best thing.
Each month we will open up the discussion to you to see if you bought a new handbag or fabulous accessory.
I remember an era in my life where yellow gold was so out of style. No one wanted to wear yellow gold and it became associated with gaudiness, but right now yellow gold is taking center stage once again and I’m thrilled about it.
Today’s perfect pair is all about two things that are both a girl’s best friend, jewelry and designer handbags.
On behalf of the entire PurseBlog team, Vlad and I want to say thank you for all of your support in 2013! We had an amazing year and it’s because of you. We have some big projects for 2014 that we know you will love and of course will bring you the greatest in the designer handbag and accessory world. So thank you for everything, Happy New Year, and we look forward to sharing 2014 with you!
The web is a buzz over Kim Kardashian’s Christmas gift from her fiance Kanye West. Kim Kardashian proudly showed off her bag on Instagram, which looks to be an older Hermes HAC, that Kanye West had painted by renowned artist George Condo, an American contemporary visual artist. Kanye first worked with artist George Condo in 2010 for a series of paintings for West’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
The late Thanksgiving went and messed up everyone’s holiday season, from interfering with Hanukah to making the shopping season quite a bit shorter. However, Christmas is on our doorstep and I have a wish list that would make both Santa and my loved ones absolutely cringe. But that won’t stop me from sharing some of the items I am wishing for under the tree this year, no matter how over-priced.
Christmas is right around the corner and tonight Vlad and I plan to bundle up on the couch, watch our favorite holiday movies, and drink hot cocoa. My Hermes Birkin is feeling festive as well and played dress up as Rudolph the red nosed Hermes. What are your holiday traditions? And if you have a festive bag photo, share it with us in the comments below!
