I was at a shopping event last week and got to talk about bags with some new friends. These are people I just met, but they’re like-minded bag lovers, so they immediately became friends. I shared that I loved raffia bags and got split reactions from the group I was chatting with. For many of them, investing in a raffia bag that is more fragile than other materials and shows wear more easily seemed like a silly use of money.
However, I am a massive fan of raffia. I’m like Sam in Cat in the Hat because I like raffia here, there, and everywhere. On the other hand, I understand not wanting to spend much on a more seasonal piece, so with that being said, when I find a new option for raffia that I like, I need to share it with you.
Beautiful Raffia
We spotlighted Le Tanneur last year, and after I received and reviewed my Le Tanneur Emie Bag, I became a fan of the brand for its beautiful leathers, attention to detail, and fair-priced bags. Now, more than ever, brands offering bags at this more attainable price point have the opportunity to flourish as bag prices with luxury brands are at an all-time high.

Three bags from Le Tanneur caught my eye, starting with the Emie (a personal favorite design of mine) that combines smooth, luxurious leather alongside raffia for a stunning combination. While many raffia bags don’t have a sizeable amount of leather, this design does, which makes it look and feel far more substantial.
The rest of the elements tie back to the Emie bag, with the signature T clasps, functional interior with a center, separating zip compartment, and versatility with the adjustable and removable shoulder strap.

Another option that is equally as lovely and more curved and compact is the Le Tanneur Pia Bag. This bag offers a lot of interesting lines and elements, from the signature clasp to the triangular shape of the raffia against the leather. There’s both a gold chain and a leather shoulder strap, allowing for different ways of carrying, with different styles, too.

Lastly, many of us love a classic raffia tote. This is a haul-all, meant for everything from the beach to the plane to the trips. Simple in design but spacious and sturdy, the Le Nattier is a large raffia tote with a sizable double leather shoulder drop. The bottom is more sturdy, with no holes woven into the pattern, allowing smaller items not to slide out or show through.
I love this brand since you introduced it, thanks!
